Three weeks had passed since our adventure at the abandoned hospital, and life had settled back into its familiar rhythm.
As much as I wished for some exciting updates to share, the truth was that nothing extraordinary had happened. But that didn't mean everything remained the same.
Ni-ki and I still found ourselves meeting frequently in the library to study for our history class. It had become somewhat of a routine for us, poring over textbooks and discussing historical events.
However, I couldn't help but notice that Ni-ki's attention often wandered during our study sessions. It seemed like he had little interest in the subject, and his mind was preoccupied with other thoughts.
I would catch him staring out the window, lost in his own world, a slight smile playing on his lips. I wondered what occupied his thoughts, what dreams or aspirations filled his mind.
But I didn't pry. Instead, I focused on our studies, trying to make the most of our time together.
Despite Ni-ki's occasional distraction, our library sessions were enjoyable. We laughed, shared interesting facts, and even engaged in friendly debates about historical figures.
It was during these moments that I discovered a different side of Ni-ki. He had a unique perspective and a way of looking at things that was refreshing and thought-provoking.
Outside of our study sessions, I noticed that Ni-ki had become a bit more considerate and attentive towards me.
He would ask about my day, listen intently to my stories, and offer words of encouragement when I needed them. It was subtle, but I could sense a shift in our dynamic.
He seemed genuinely interested in my well-being and wanted to be there for me.
The fake relationship we had concocted seemed to have an unintended effect.
Ni-ki's aloof and distant persona had softened, and he was opening up in small but meaningful ways.
It made me wonder if our initial agreement had created an opportunity for us to grow closer on a personal level.
Additionally, I noticed that Ni-ki wasn't being approached by other girls anymore. It seemed like the rumors of our fake relationship had reached their ears, dissuading them from pursuing him.
In general, our group had grown closer over the past few weeks. Sunghoon and Jake had become inseparable, their friendship evolving into something deeper.
They spent most of their time together, sharing inside jokes and embarking on new adventures. It was heartwarming to witness their bond strengthen.
Jungwon and Jay also spent a significant amount of time together, often meeting up for coffee or exploring new places in the city.
As for Ni-ki and me, we had grown closer in our own subtle way. While it wasn't a drastic change, I couldn't deny the warmth in his interactions and the genuine care he showed.
It was as if our shared secret had brought us closer, allowing us to see different facets of each other's personalities.
Three weeks had passed since that bus ride from the abandoned hospital, and while nothing extraordinary had happened, our friendships had deepened, and a newfound closeness had blossomed between Ni-ki and me.
It was a reminder that sometimes, the most significant changes occur in the smallest gestures, the quiet moments of understanding and care.
