The Ball is just as I had suspected.

People crowding me and Jason to get in some praise about their pack.

I simply do not care enough to bother paying attention to them.

I take a quick scan of the ballroom locating my targets to whom I have to talk to today.

The alphas of six most influential packs.

Once, I get the information I need, I'll leave this hellhole of a place.

I first go and talk to the Alpha of the Night Walkers while Jason goes off to the bar.

The Alpha, really was a sad excuse for a person.

All he could talk about was how great he was and not to mention the very rude way he was talking to the waiter.

People who treat their servants as animals really have a pre-reserved place in hell.

But maybe I'm being hypocritical with the way I have high standards for my warriors.

I move on to the Alpha of the Blue Moon Pack.

He kept on rambling about some territory that he thought was very valuable.

He seemed like a douchebag.

He talked for half an hour before I simply walked away, having lost my patience, leaving him there open-mouthed and confused.

He needed to just stop talking.

I suddenly caught a whiff of a fruity scent, like strawberry and orange.

I stopped in my tracks as the realisation dawned on me.

Mate.

She was here.

Shit.

I need to reject her.

He was enamoured with her already and wanted to mark her this second.

I need to reject her but it can't be now.
If I see her now, I might do something I regret.

I quickly moved towards the exit ready to leave even though I didn't find the information I was looking for.

I mind linked Jason to come to the car.

I was stopped by the Alpha of the Moonlight Pack.

I was supposed to talk to him but now I just can't stay to talk to him.

If I can smell her that means she can smell me too.

What if she finds me first?

Fuck.

I can't let that happen.

I need to leave.

I don't even notice what Alpha Raymond went on about.

I was too lost in my thoughts.

I could only hear the last part." So what do you say Alpha do you agree with my proposal?"

I am not sure what he rambled on about before I nodded and handed him my email before rushing out through the exit and immediately tearing off my clothes as I shifted into my wolf.

I ran towards the forest.

I need to clear my mind.

I didn't even meet my mate and she already threw me off my game enough that I agreed to some proposal about which I know nothing about.

This is why mates should just remain a possibility and not a reality.

I could hear Jason mind linking me so I told him to not worry about me and go back to the pack.

When I am tensed or angry about something and go for a run.

The best way to calm yourself is to get the fuck away from people.
