Reckless Past

Chapter six

"Oh my, Felix. Someone call a doctor" she screamed and went towards her brother who was gasping for breath. "Wait, I'm a doctor" she thought. She ran quickly to get tools from her room. Few minutes later, she came back to see his brother lying there quietly as if nothing happened. "Oh no, am I too late? " she felt guilt in her body. Right after she said that, her brother started gasping for air again, this time,more vigorously. The bed was shaking and Leni was extremely dumbstruck. She quickly started to check his heartbeat and it was beating extremely fast. "Oh no, Felix please calm down, don't go. I'll also go if you go" she cried. As soon as he calmed his brother by an injection, the nurse came by, along with a doctor. "Doctor Benedict,he calmed down. His temperature is rising and his heartbeat is abnormally fast. Oh gosh" Leni was freaking out as she placed her hand on her forehead and went back and forth in the room. "Miss Leni, I think it's time. He is going to choose whether to come back to the world or go to Heaven. If he doesn't wake up today, I'm afraid he will not be able to wake up again" the doctor plainly stated. Leni gasped. "Oh no, no, no, no, no. We can't let this happen, I have been waiting three years for him to wake up . He can't die now. Look, he was healing, he was ok, he was just sleeping. I wish I could do something but I haven't really specialized in this. Do something,Doctor" Leni begged. "I will try, Miss Leni. " the doctor assured. "Then, the doctor put him on a drip and started checking his heartbeat again. "I think he will be alright, let us just  pray he will wake up today" the doctor said. Leni was trembling, her hands were shaking and her eyes were filled with tears. The nurse touched her shoulder and gave an assuring smile. "He...he..He's my only family who survived" she said and burst into tears. "He can't go, I have waited for him for too long time. " Leni continued. "He will be fine, okay? " the nurse replied. Leni nodded, raised her up and recited a short prayer. "I will be leaving now, Miss Leni. Please give me a call when he wakes up" the doctor said. "Wait what? You can't leave now, what if he wakes up right now. What will we do? Leni asked. " The nurse is here and you are a doctor yourself. I'm sorry Miss Leni, but I have return to other patients. "the doctor replied. "You can't leave. I hired you from my hospital to take care of my brother only. You.. Just go. I'll take care of him myself" Leni answered back when she realized she was being selfish. "I'm sorry, Miss Leni" the doctor said. As soon as he turned the door knob,  Felix widened his eyes and tried to mutter some words. Immediately, they all gathered around him and tried to help him in every way they could. Felix stopped shaking suddenly and looked straight into Leni's eyes. He was forcing to smile but he looked like he could not move a muscle. "Brother" Leni hugged her brother. Felix, with his mouth open, tried to get up but to no avail. "Doctor, is he okay? I think he is paralysed. " Leni asked. "He will be alright. It's just something that happens to people who just woke up from coma. He doesn't know how to move his body"the doctor explained. "This is a miracle, Leni. He woke up from coma, completely fine and he actually remembers you. " The doctor continued. Then, the doctor gave her brother another injection, this one was a medicine to decrease the paralysis. "L... L... " her brother tried again. "Shush, don't speak or cry, you will be fine" and a drop of tears fell as she watched tears drop from Felix's eyes as he tried to speak. An hour later, her brother got up and sat on the bed with the help of Leni,and this time the doctor wasn't around. Felix tried to pull the tubes out of his body. "Wait there, let me help" Leni offered.
