The short, brown-eyed blonde standing ten feet away from me with worry-filled eyes almost made me forget why I even called Nate here in the first place. Key word, almost. I let my gaze linger on her for a few more seconds before recollecting my attention to the absolute dumbass in front of me.
"Mr. Cameron, I've checked three times. Your name isn't on the list for Bay Five." Enzo says again tapping his clipboard impatiently.
"I don't like your attitude." I reply with disgust.
"I don't like your manners." He snaps back showing no remorse.
"What manners?" I bite back with a smirk filling the left side of my lips. Enzo rolls his eyes as Nate walks up to the both of us concerned.
"What's going on here?" He asks with a hesitant smile as he lays his hand on Enzo's shoulder.
"Well, Nate, you see I've just come all the way from Santa Monica and I wanted to make sure I had somewhere to put my boat. Your employee here, clearly, can't seem to find my name on your silly little list." I respond sharply.
Nate nods his head towards the small building signaling for Enzo to step away. "We'll get it figured out Cam." Nate says reassuring me as he walks away with Enzo.
"Ten minutes!" The blonde girl yells at Nate.
"Shit. I need your ride to head over to the Marina!" Nate respond pivoting his foot and turning back towards us.
"It's my car, Palmer!" She replies visibly annoyed.
"Jack can take you?" Nate responds half asking half suggesting. The blonde's head whips towards me and back to Nate's.
"I am not getting on a motorcycle." She says with utter disgust. Nate throws up his arms in defeat before continuing his path to the main building of the docks.
The girl look completely distraught and on the verge of breaking down, without thinking I gesture my helmet towards her. She shakes her head frantically and I impulsively walk towards her.
"Jack." I say in a sharp tone introducing myself. I tower over her, leaving almost a foot and a half between us.
"I know who you are." The blonde replies unintimidated.
"Usually when someone introduces themselves, you introduce yourself in return." I reply leaning down so she can hear me more clearly.
"Thought you didn't have manners." She says devilishly giggling.
"Thought you didn't have a ride?" I reply cutting off her laugh. Her eyes lock on mine for a split second before she brings her gaze past my body and towards the building where Nate and Enzo are.
"I rather it rain than ride that thing." She says pointing towards my black Kawasaki. "And I hate rain." The blonde adds with a lower more sharp tone.
"Who said I was giving you a ride, sunlight?" I respond taken aback by her hatred for my prized possession. She takes a second to continue our banter, most likely stunned by the nickname I called her.
I can't lie though, the name fits her so perfectly. Sun kissed hair, golden brown eyes, and the most tan glowy skin. I try not to make my admiration for her obvious so I quickly slip on my helmet and shrug my gesture off.
"Your loss." I admit before walking off.
"No asshole, it's yours." She says brushing her body against mine and walking towards the entrance of the building. Even with the overcast weather in Carlsbad, heat rushes throughout my entire body the second it makes contact with hers.
