Sunoo |On Monday morning, as I made my way through the hallways of the school, I spotted Jungwon and Sunghoon conversing near the lockers.
"Hey, guys! How was your weekend?" I greeted them, trying to keep the conversation light before delving into the more serious matter at hand.
Jungwon grinned. "It was pretty normal, I guess. How about you?"
"Nothing too exciting. Hey, Sunghoon, can I talk to you for a moment?"
Sunghoon looked slightly surprised but nodded. "Sure, what's up?"
I motioned for us to step aside, away from the bustling hallway. "Well, I wanted to ask you something. Why didn't you tell Jungwon and me about your meeting with Jake? We heard you were supposed to meet up with him at the coffee shop."
Sunghoon's eyes flickered with a mix of surprise and guilt. He shifted uncomfortably, seemingly struggling to find the right words. Finally, he let out a sigh and looked up at me, his expression filled with honesty.
"I didn't want to seem like I didn't want to hang out with you and Jungwon anymore," Sunghoon admitted, his voice barely above a whisper.
"I didn't want to make you both sad or think that I was distancing myself from you. I wanted to spend some time with Jake to sort my feelings out with him. It was something I had to do on my own."
Jungwon and I exchanged glances, We had been so caught up in our own concerns and suspicions that we hadn't considered how Sunghoon might have been feeling.
I reached out and placed a reassuring hand on Sunghoon's shoulder.
"Sunghoon, you don't have to worry about that," I reassured him, sincerity lacing my voice. "Our friendship is strong, and we understand that sometimes we need to navigate our own emotions.
We just want you to be happy, and if that means exploring your feelings with Jake, then we support you wholeheartedly."
Jungwon nodded, his eyes filled with warmth and understanding. "Exactly. We're not upset or mad at you for wanting to figure things out. We just want you to know that we're here for you ans you don't have to hide such a thing to us."
A mixture of relief and gratitude washed over Sunghoon's face, and a small smile tugged at the corners of his lips. "Thank you, guys," he said softly, his voice filled with genuine appreciation.
"Next time, just tell us if you already have other plans, we won't be mad at you or so, okay?" I added.
With that, the three of us stood there in the hallway, a sense of understanding and unity surrounding us. We had weathered a moment of uncertainty and miscommunication, but our friendship remained strong.
I felt a renewed sense of connection with both Jungwon and Sunghoon, knowing that we had grown even closer through this experience.
And so, we continued our day, looking forward to the future with hope and anticipation, knowing that whatever may come, we would face it together as friends.
