Chapter 1: A New Beginning

I couldn't believe the paper that was intertwined into my hand. A sweet signature was planted softly across the page. The biggest moment of my life has come. I was about to become a detective of the Santa Barbara Police Department. I worked so hard for this place and I finally gotten my reward.

The next few days were a blur as I moved all my stuff into my new condo. But everything stopped as I could hear the phone ring from across the room. I was decorating my new bedroom but stopped immediately and quickly got to the phone, swiping the green call button.

"Hello?" I asked professionally.
"Ma'am, this is the Santa Barbara Police Chief, is this Madison Smith?
"This is she!"
"I would love to congratulate you for becoming our new detective! I called to inform you that you will be helping Detective Lassiter and Detective O'Hara and overseeing everything they do."
"That would be great!"
"Awesome! I will see you Monday, Detective Smith."

I slowly put the phone down while holding me breath. At the exact moment I put the phone down, I screamed and jumped around my new home, everything was going to change.
