|+Prologue+|Thud.
The black-haired child curled up on the ground as he prepared for the upcoming kicks and punches. He protects his head with his arms completely, protecting his head from any physical damage. His phone is under his body, hidden from 'classmates' of his.
"Ugh."
Rough kicks and punches kept coming up to him. He felt utterly weak today. This was the result of not eating his food from yesterday. It's kind of half of his fault. He was completely into the novel he read, [Three Ways To Survive In a Ruined World], that he forgot to eat his food. Today, he got the chance to buy some with his own money. However, his money was taken.
"Is this the only money you have? It's not enough, you see, Dokja?"
Yes, they were the ones who took his money for lunch. Now, he could only helplessly curl up his body.
Kim Dokja looked further down and saw his phone still open. The only thought that he had in mind was that he don't have to worry. Yoo Joonghyuk also suffered much worse, but he was always with Kim Dokja when he was having a hard time. Yes, Yoo Joonghyuk was also suffering together with him. Always by his side.
Despite the assurance, Kim Dokja could see dark spots filling up his eyes very slowly. He felt a sudden kick in his stomach that makes him want to faint. He was going to faint. His eyes felt heavy and finally, he fell into an empty dream.
"Hey, if you wanted money so bad, why don't you say so?"
Maybe not before he heard a voice that sound so clear to him.
-
Kim Dokja stares at the nurse in front of him with confusion. The nurse was holding up plastic that have containers that contain food inside it. Kim Dokja received the plastics with an agape mouth. Then, the nurse let out some sentences.
"Here, a student brings you some food after knowing that you are bullied by some of your classmates. He said your money was taken so he insist on buying you these. Anyway, if you still feel a little bit of pain, you can rest for a while here. You can leave after you gained a bit of energy."
The nurse didn't give Kim Dokja a single glance before returning to the table filled with papers and files in the corner of the infirmary. The black-haired boy looked down at the lunch foods he was given. It was a sandwich. Kim Dokja was grateful, but he would be much more grateful if there were no tomatoes inside of it.
He scrunched up his nose and took the tomatoes out of the sandwich.
Ding.
His ears perked up at the similar notifications. Look like his phone didn't being left out when the student who helped him brought him to the infirmary. He held out his phone with his left hand and right hand still holding out the eaten sandwich.
"...A new chapter."
His eyes brighten and clicked on it. He was reading like he normally does, at least before he got into the next paragraph.
《He come to a hilt when he saw red. He wasn't sure if that was a head or blood. This question was answered when he come into eye contact with reddish-brown eyes. His attention then went to the monsters that come up to him and attacked him.
Why didn't this monster attack that man?
He focused on the monsters, slicing their heads with no mercy. It took a while to gain his freedom from these monsters and he glanced at the spot where the man was standing before, expecting the same eyes looking at him. But, no, he didn't even get a single glance of the red-haired.》
'Huh?'
Kim Dokja was interested in this new character. It's only a few paragraphs but he felt attracted. He continued scrolling down, hoping for more information about the character, just like how the main protagonist was also searching for them.
"You're food going to be eaten by the flies if you hold them for too long."
Kim Dokja's shoulders jolted. He looked up from his phone to look at the nurse's eyes.
"The kid looked the same age as you. So you probably know him. Don't forget to thank him when you meet him."
The thing is Kim Dokja doesn't have friends, nor that he cares about anyone at his school. Except for a few people like his bullies and classmates, he never gets to know anyone.
"Who is he? If I may ask."
"He's a foreigner. But he speaks Korean fluently. You will notice him in a crowd even without an effort, not with his red-haired."
Kim Dokja was more confused. There's a foreigner in his school and the same age as him?
The nurse let out a sigh and went to their table to continue doing their work. Kim Dokja gave thought that he should find that foreigner tomorrow. After finishing his food, Kim Dokja hurriedly get out of the infirmary and went straight home. He was late.
The next morning, he didn't get to find the foreigner as he promised to do. He couldn't even see a single strand of red-haired at all. Just like how Yoo Joonghyuk doesn't get a single glance at the red-haired.
For these two days, his mind was filled with red-haired. Specifically, the new mysterious character and the foreigner. He might have thought of this before. The person who helped him doesn't seem to care about the rumors surrounding Kim Dokja. While everyone avoids him like he was some weirdo, this foreigner even helped him and gave him money. He felt the need to find that red-haired foreigner more.
