I'm very nervous. This will be my first day for me working as a waitress and I don't speak italian. This is a place mostly visited by tourists, so I really hope it won't be a problem, but in the long run it would be good to at least learn the basics.

I was introduced to everyone, they told me what I needed to know and we agreed that at the beginning I only take the orders, until I learn to confidently carry the plates.
At first I was quite timid with people, but slowly started to gain more and more confidence.
I was just listing the flavors of the lemonades at one of the tables when one of my co-workers, Lidia walked up to me.
"Excuse me, my love. I don't mean to interrupt you, but we don't have kiwi and elderberry lemonades. I can't believe you didn't check that." - she tried to act like she wanted to help, but I could see in her eyes that she was just faking it.
"Sorry, I just..." - I tried to apologize to the customers, but she didn't let me finish the sentence.
"Maybe you should go back and get some rest, I'll take care of that." - she touched my shoulder and gave me a weird smile. I didn't want to make a big deal out of it, so I left it to her. It was really strange, but maybe only because she was right and I needed some rest.

A little later, new guests arrived so I went to their table to greet them, but they started speaking in Italian to me.
"Excuse me, would you mind if we continue the conversation in English?" - I smiled at them, but I was nervous because they were the first Italians here I had spoken to.
They seemed not happy about the situation and continued in Italian as if I understood what they were saying. I started looking around for someone to help me and Lidia appeared within seconds.
"I don't know what you would do without me." - she said and motioned for me to leave.
She switched to Italian and I'm sure she said something nasty about me when they started laughing together. It was very annoying, but I didn't want to complain on my first day.

We were already in the last half hour before closing when a small group of men appeared and sat down at one of the tables.
I went there and told them that at this time our kitchen is closed and we are not taking new orders. They apologized and stood up when my boss rushed to us to tell that it was just a misunderstanding and I should take their order.
