When I opened my eyes again after dozing off I turned my head to the right to see the dark storm clouds outside still storming away. I turned my head to the left then to see my gorgeous as fuck girlfriend Alex reading the newspaper in the arm chair next to me. I was laying on my back on the couch we had recently bought for our apartment. I turned my head back to the patio door and sighed. I was bored.
"You know you could always take another nap," Alex said from behind the newspaper. "You're cute when you do that."
I stared back the ceiling. I probably wouldn't fall asleep even if I tried. I was to bored.
"I'm so bored though," I said.
"Well why are you bored?"
I turned my head back to Alex and was about to laugh but then I began to really consider her question. Why was I bored? We had gotten up around 10 and had breakfast, then some incredible shower sex, and then we decided to read. Alex had the newspaper, and my book had fallen onto the floor. So why was I so bored? Maybe it was the fact that it had been raining all day.
"Maybe it's the weather," I responded.
"That's a good possibility," Alex said from behind her newspaper again. "So here's the next question. What are we going to do to make you not so bored anymore?"
"Why are you asking me?" I laughed. "I'm the bored one remember?"
"That's true," Alex laughed back.
"Maybe we could go for a walk outside or something," I suggested. Alex lowered her newspaper and looked at me skeptically.
"Pipes, it's raining out."
"I know," I sighed. "It has been all day."
I looked back at the ceiling again and more thunder clapped.
"Lets go for a walk," Alex said putting her newspaper down.
"What?" I turned my head back towards her as she got up and walked over to me. Holding her hand out she said, "I'm going outside for a walk. Are you coming?"
"Yes!" I exclaimed and took her hand so she could help me up. Swiftly, she pulled me into her arms and our faces were less than an inch apart.
"God you're hot," Alex said and then kissed me. Her arms were around my waist and I wrapped my arms around her neck. Her lips were soft and warm like usual but it still made me want to get lost in her forever every time. Say what you will about Alex Vause but believe me, she's the best person I've ever known. When she pulled away I felt lost for a second until she gently pulled me along with her to the door. We put our shoes on and Alex grabbed an umbrella.
"You ready Pipes?" Alex asked as she held the door open for me.
"Of course I am, I'm with you."
"You're cute," Alex smiled at me as she took my hand and we left our apartment. The second we stepped out into the street the rain began drumming louder and louder on the street and the umbrella. After about ten minutes of walking the wind started to pick up and Alex let go of my hand to hold onto the umbrella better.
"Pipes," Alex said as the rain began picking up again. "I don't think it's safe out here anymore. We should go back home."
"You're right," I said loudly over the rain and wind. We were now completely soaked and our clothes hung heavily on us. "I just don't know the way back. I can't see a thing!"
All I could see was Alex's concerned face and then suddenly the umbrella was ripped from her hands by the force of the wind.
"Shit!" Alex shouted.
"Vause?" A voice yelled. A voice I recognized. Nicky!
"Nicky?" Alex shouted back.
"Yeah you dykes get over here!" Nicky laughed. "I'm across the street!"
"How the fuck can you see us then?" Alex said.
"I don't know but lets go."
Alex took my hand again then and we quickly ran across the street with the rain and wind still coming down heavy. Once we made it across the street we found Nicky and without saying anything to us, she pulled us into a building.
"Jesus fucking Christ is it raining hard, huh?" She said as we all tried to catch our breath.
"Yeah no shit," Alex laughed.
When my breathing returned to normal I began to look around the shop that Nicky had pulled us in. Russian art and décor covered the walls and Russian music played.
"Nicky... Is this Red's new shop?" I said still looking around.
"Yup, and she's letting me and Morello stay here until we can find a place of our own."
"Oh! Lorna got out?"
"Well, in about a month."
"Hey at least you'll have your fuck buddy back," Alex said making her and Nicky laugh.
"Al!" I said sharply and punching her arm.
"Ow! What??" She responded.
"You know Nicky and Lorna are more than just fuck buddies, that was uncalled for."
Alex stared speechlessly at me.
"Look Piper," Nicky said smirking and distracting me from Alex. "While you are right, Alex is too. I mean the comforting is nice... if you know what I mean."
"Oh God!" Alex burst out laughing and soon we all were.
"What?" Nicky laughed while holding herself up on a table. We all pulled out the chairs then and sat down while still laughing.
"Comforting...?"
"Well yeah. C'mon Vause don't pretend like you don't know what I mean. You and Chapman sneaking out into the chapel every night and thinking no one would notice."
Alex and I exchanged a glance and then looked back at Nicky when one of the kitchen doors opened and the familiar cook from Litchfield prison walked through while drying her hands on a towel. Red threw the towel aside then and said, "My favorite line was 'Sorry guys, just barely missed breakfast.'" While imitating Alex.
"Long shower line?" Red imitated Nicky.
"Oh yeah, the worst," Red imitated Alex.
"Your hairs dry," Red imitated Nicky again and we couldn't control our laughter.
"You saw that?!" Alex exclaimed while still laughing.
"Of course I did," Red said with her heavy Russian accent. "Red sees everything that goes on in her kitchen. Even in this one when Nichols steals a pirozhki and doesn't think I'll notice."
"Aw fuck, you saw that?" Nicky asked.
"Yes, Red sees everything," Red responded. "It's good to see you two again. Will you be staying for dinner?"
"Oh, um, no sorry," Alex said causing me to remember that we had only gone into Reds to get out of the rain. I looked outside and saw that the rain had stopped and now the sun was barely coming out of the clouds. "I reserved a table at that new fancy restaurant for us tonight."
Alex had to have been lying but I didn't say anything. I didn't want to eat Russian food tonight although I would never say that to Red.
"Eau Claires?" Red asked.
"Yup, and we should probably be off," Alex said looking up at the clock. We all got up then and said our goodbyes and Alex promised Red that we'd be back soon. I opened the door for Alex and we waved goodbye. On the sidewalk we began walking home and I looked to Alex and asked, "Did you really reserve a table for us?"
"No, I just figured you wouldn't want to eat Russian food."
"God you know me so well Al."
"I can get us a table too if you really want too, I'll buy."
"Nah, I just want a quiet night at home with my wonderful girlfriend," I smiled at Alex and took her hand as we walked back to our apartment hand in hand.
