Chapter 27

"Ow." I stared down at the blood trickling from my arm unsure of whether to be amazed or frightened.

"I-I-I I'm so sorry, Y/N, i-it was an accident." Tamaki's quirk quickly withdrew as he landed on the ground treading cautiously over to me, "a-are you okay?"

The prince was by no means a master of his quirk or any of its individual features, but he was already pretty good at using it so that day he was trying to put his skills to the test and really push his limits by manifesting as many foods as he could fit on his body.

I had offered myself up for target practice since I could fly when I wanted to so I could be level with him while he flew in the air with his wings manifested from an eagle. Obviously I added some weight onto myself so I would not be so fast flying through the air and give him an advantage but I still had not expected him to actually catch me.

As well as wings, Tamaki had also manifested his usual wheat whip from one arm and had a giant cherry stone instead of a fist on the other. His nose was replaced with that of a dog's so he could smell much more and his nice elven ears were now the shape of a bat's to enhance his hearing. Both his feet were giant claws thanks to the chicken he ate and all this he managed to control simultaneously. I considered getting him some more exotic food to explore new kinds of abilities derived from different plants and animals, though I imagined some of it would be quite repulsive to look at and it might have been best if I had hidden it in a dish which I should have done for the dog meat, that took Tamaki a while to eat.

"I-it is fine, Tamaki, it is just a little cut," with a flick the hand, the cut was gone and my dress sewn up, "I should have been paying more attention, but this really was no fault of either of ours, more-so an indication of your abilities."

It was his wheat whip which just grazed me as I flew away from him in the opposite direction. I had not seen it coming since I was not trying to sense his 'attacks', but this showed I underestimated the prince, whom I originally thought could not touch me. He had proved himself now, and I knew he was ready.

"N-no, I only wanted to capture you, I didn't have enough control and I missed you, hurting you instead. Y/N, I really am sorry." He bowed his head.

"I know you are," I sighed at the anxious prince, his pitiful state had not improved past this point and I was starting to believe that this was simply his personality, "but never mind that, I have something else I want you to try."

Taking a few steps back, I spread out my arms and grinned, "I want you to fight me!"

Tamaki's head instinctively shot up and he shook his hands in front of him, "oh no, I-I couldn't do that, what if I hurt you again?"

"Seriously?" I put my hand against my chest in mock offence, "I am the most powerful sorceress in the world and you are worried about hurting me? Frankly I am offended."

"N-no I didn't mean it like that, i-it's just I'm not one hundred percent confident in my quirk yet, what if I lose control?"

"Oh come on, Tamaki," I was eager to get started, to fight someone who could at least graze me when I was not trying - that was harder to do than it sounded - I had not met someone even slightly my match since I was still learning new skills when I was five years old, "I have watched your skills grow, I have seen you control your quirk with ease - control is not the problem, all you need is to get stronger and the way to do that as quickly as possible is to face someone your superior."

He lowered his hands and gulped.

"So are you with me?"

He nodded.

"Do not hold back."

Immediately I jumped back from a much expected frontal attack from his whip stretching out to just miss me by a fraction of an inch. Teleporting behind the prince, I sent an illusion of a fire blast his way which blew up in his face just as he turned around.
