Kacey's POV
I got up at 5:30 am. Once I got up, I started to get ready for the work, putting on my uniform and grabbing an extra pair of clothes to put in my duffel bag. Around 6:30 a.m., I got Jack up and ready to go for school. 7am came around, and I got Jack in the car and buckled up. I drove him to school and walked him inside to his classroom. I let his teacher know about the diabetes and that his omipod and dexcom are in his bag. I hugged Jack goodbye as I left going to work.
~Arrived at Work~
I walked into the firehouse and up the stairs to the kitchen. I grabbed a plate of breakfast from the kitchen and sat down eating. Hen sat down next to me, eating her breakfast. Buck came upstairs happy and jumping around as normal. I smiled to myself as Eddie walked up the stairs.
Eddie's POV
I looked over at Kacey, who was smiling to herself. I smiled and chuckled a little. I walked over and sat down next to Kacey. I felt a pair of eyes on me as I looked up to see Buck across from me glaring. I shrugged and looked at him confused.
"Buck, quit glaring at Eddie." I heard Kacey say in my defense.
"It's alright, Kace." I said, waving her down.
I heard Buck sigh and give up on the hope he had. I got up and walked downstairs to go talk to Bobby. I walked into Bobby's office.
"Hey Bobby." I said.
"Hello Diaz." He responded.
"I got a question about Kacey and Buck." I said, questioning.
"Okay, ask away, but I thought you knew Kacey." He said.
"I mean, I do know, Kacey, but I haven't seen her in 8 years. I was in the Army with her. She was one of the best medics out in the field. But Buck seems more different. Kacey never told me about her siblings." I told him.
"You'll just have to get to know him." Bobby told me.
I nodded and heard the bell ring. We all ran to the firetruck and hopped in. I looked over at Kacey as she looked down at her ring. I thought to myself 'Damn she still has that ring. Didn't her ex give that to her?' I questioned myself. I watched as Buck grabbed her hand and stopped her from playing. Kacey looked at her brother and smiled shyly. I looked away, listening to whoever was talking.
3rd person's POV
We pulled up to the scene and got out. Bobby started directing us to grab things and follow him. Kacey walked with Chimney and Hen over to the person on the ground. Chimney let Kacey handle it on her own as Hen and him went to help the person in the car. Kacey had the person on a backboard and in one of the ambulances as Buck and Eddie were taking apart the car to get the person out of the car and to safety. Once they got the person out, Hen and Chimney got to work on them. Buck stood there watching his two best friends work on the older person. Eddie had put everything away and stood by Kacey watching his friends work. Kacey crouched down and started to help by holding the saline for Hen. They finally got the older person stable and into an ambulance. Hen and Chimney drove away to the hospital as the rest of the crew went back to the firehouse. They had a few more calls like the first. Soon enough, lunch had passed and went on. The rest of the day was quiet for the firehouse. Everyone just reloaded the trucks and ambulance. As the afternoon drew closer, Bobby had sent his crew to get ready to leave. As everyone took a shower and the opportunity to change.
