Elijah quietly watched Balthazar closely. He was a completely different person from the man he knew... For some reason that worried him. Or maybe he was worried to let his guard down with him and for Mikael to resurface when he least expect it.
"Elijah..."
He looked up at Tristan with a glare.
"I assume one of my siblings let you inside," Elijah said.
"They did," Tristan said, "A word please?"
"Not a chance," Elijah said, "In case you can't tell I don't particularly trust you, Tristan."
"I don't understand why," Tristan said, "I've nothing to offend you or your family..."
"I do not need to explain myself to you," Elijah said, "I refuse to do so. If you can not see why then perhaps..."
"I can't see why because last I remember we were happy with each other," Tristan said.
Elijah got up and walked away. Tristan sighed deeply, knowing he shouldn't have pushed that button. He followed him.
"Elijah, I want to help," Tristan said.
"You can help by leaving me be," Elijah said.
"You know that's not true," Tristan said softly, "Please... Let me in. Let me help you."
Elijah shook his head and turned away.
"You can't push me away forever," Tristan said.
"I beg to differ," Elijah said.
Tristan rolled his eyes and stepped closer.
"What have I done to make you hate me this way," Tristan asked.
"What have you done," Elijah asked, turning to him, "Should I write a list for you?"
"If this is about the Strix, you and I both know that they're yours first..."
"It's not about the Strix, Tristan," Elijah said, "It never was."
Tristan knitted his eyebrows in confusion. He always assumed Elijah's hatred started with the Strix.
"Your sister is fond of my brother..."
"She chases what she can not achieve, how is this our problem again," Tristan asked.
"I sent Mikael after you," Elijah said.
"You were fearful, Elijah," Tristan said, "Although what you did was wrong, I understand your motive behind this was to protect your own blood first. If I was in your shoes I would do the same."
"I abandoned you..."
"I forgive you..."
"Why do you keep forgiving me such behavior," Elijah asked, "It makes no sense!"
"Do you not understand," Tristan scoffed, "I..."
"Don't finish that sentence," Elijah said, pointing at him.
"Why are afraid of your emotions for me, Elijah," Tristan asked.
Elijah turned away from his eyes.
