Penn

I noticed how hard my heart was beating at the thought of Jason. Still, I felt the need to confirm that I wasn't confused and overwhelmed by everything that I'd been through that day.

The next day, I went out to lunch with Jason at a Mexican restaurant to determine if I really had feelings for him by seeing how I felt around Jason.

When I arrived, I sat at a table inside and waited for Jason to show up.

"Hey, Penn!" Jason greeted as he walked toward our table. His arms were stretched out, inviting me into a hug.

"Nice to see you, again," I said as I stood from my seat and hugged him back.

As Jason wrapped me in his muscular arms, I felt my heart flutter. His warm embrace formed butterflies in my stomach and made me feel at home.

We let go and sat across from each other.

"So how have you been holding up?" Jason asked, referring to my situation with Sierra.

"Uh... I actually broke up with her last night," I said awkwardly.

"Woah! Seriously?" Jason astoundedly replied.

"Yeah, I was feeling pretty sanguine after leaving your house last night and decided I would break things off with Sierra."

"So how did it go?"

"She took it pretty well, but she also didn't take it very well," I chuckled.

"Well, I'm sorry things didn't work out for you two," Jason said solemnly.

After the waiter took our orders, I noticed that Jason's shirt stretched over his chest and revealed the shape of his well-defined pecs. I tried not to stare and attempted to get a conversation rolling by asking, "How's your sister doing? Are things going well for her photography?"

"Yeah, she's doing really well! Her photo exhibits have had an increase in turn out ever since she put out some of her pieces in the new photography museum. I'm so proud of her!"

Seeing Jason beam as he spoke about his sister made me happy. He seemed to have a joyful aura whenever he talked about the things he loves.

His value in his family made me think, "I wonder what he and I would be like as a family."

That was when I realized that I had genuine feelings for Jason. At first, I was so in shock that I didn't know what to do. When I thought more about it, I realized that my relationship with Sierra taught me that it's best not to wait around. Thus, I said, "I have something to tell you, Jason."

A serious expression replaced Jason's bright smile. Unexpectedly, our waiter appeared at our table to serve us our food. As he handed Jason his heavy plate of enchiladas, I became starry-eyed at the strength Jason possessed. When the weight of the plate transferred to Jason, it made the muscles on his forearm swell and his veins stand out. I was mesmerized by how attractive Jason looked in the middle of that Mexican restaurant.

When the waiter finally walked away, Jason asked, "What did you want to tell me, Penn?"

I was feeling apprehensive now that time had passed and my nerves had settled since I decided to admit the truth to Jason. Nevertheless, I swallowed the ball in my throat and confessed, "I have feelings for you, Jason."
