Chapter VIIII • The Final Decision

One week has passed after the King's tragic and untimely demise. What happened eventually had an impact on Ezquiria. It seemed like seven days of suffering. Crime rates rose, and many people began to go hungry. This worries the chiefs and ministers, and it needs to stop before it becomes worse. They had a discussion in the boardroom as the sun came up. Chief of Council Joseph Falcon presided over the significant gathering, which included Chiefs and Ministers from many sectors. He is a capable leader and scholar. He holds the highest rank among the other leaders serving Ezquiria, making him one of the most revered chiefs in the line of duty. Although he sometimes comes out as quite serious, he is approachable if you need any assistance.

They all stood up as soon as he and some other chiefs entered the room.

The two chiefs beside him are the Chief of Finance and the Chief of Staff, Glenda Gale and Fernando Conner.

"We are here to discuss the sudden change of the new era of Ezquiria. Ever since the King died, Ezquiria has changed a lot. Crime rates increased, and our State Affairs aren't doing well. We are slowly going down, and this concerns the whole Council", the Chief stated.

"The sudden death of the King also affected our economy and transactions with other Realms. Illegal transactions that are said to be ours are being tolerated even if they are against the rules of other realms", said the Chief of Economy.

"Have you sent a letter for our defense?", the Chief of Finance asked.

The Chief of Economy, Ian Orlando, nodded. "Yes, however, they did not accept our statement, and they accused us that our reason was only an excuse to escape the said adversity".

The Chief and the council felt helpless in this situation. However, one of the Ministers raised his hand.

"Permission to speak…", Minister John favored

The Chief nodded and permitted him to express his thoughts.

"Over several years, Ezquiria has been a Realm that all Kingdoms share. It was the only Kingdom in the land led by our great ancestor, Mimosa. We have shared this Kingdom ever since. Knowing that we are facing the same situation as before, I am suggesting to the whole council...

"To let a ruler from another Realm rule this Kingdom"

Everyone was shocked to hear his thoughts. It felt like the whole room was running out of air. Even the Chief himself was completely shocked by the idea.

"Are you suggesting we sell this Kingdom to another ruler, Minister John?", Chief Glenda stood up and asked abruptly without asking the permission of the Chief.

"Yes, this is the only way that can work", Minister John answered arrogantly.

"Lovely Minister, we should be thinking outside the box. We are not free to be owned by any Kingdom", She said discourteously to the Minister.

The Minister felt teased by the Chief of Finance. He then faced the Chief of the Council confidently.

"Chief Council, please allow me to speak for my suggestion once again", The Minister asked once again, and the Chief nodded.

"This is also the merging of our Kingdom with another, strengthening our State and Power. If we choose the right Kingdom to merge with, we will definitely build an unstoppable realm,, the Minister smirked.

"Like the Kingdom of Azrin"

They are all stunned once again by the idea, but this time they find it interesting. One of the council members spoke about the suggestion.

"This may work. The Kingdom of Azrin is considered to be the second most developed Kingdom in the land. They have advanced their knowledge in different ways. They also have unique weapons that they use to defend the Kingdom. Merging with them is a good decision.", Other chiefs and staff seem to agree with the idea. However, some are against it. The Chief of Finance stood up and asked for permission to speak.
