Redwood was a legend.

Everyone knew different parts of the massacre but ignored it to have a little fun.

It didn't scare them.

Lola felt isolated from everyone because of what happened.

She remembered the feeling of hearing the police come into her grandmother's house to tell her that Lola's sister died.

Something inside her died with her baby sister and what made it worse was that she didn't have anyone except her grandma and sister.

Her parents died in a car crash or at least that is what the police said.

Lola stood in the care home her grandmother lived in after showing signs of dementia sipping cold water out of a plastic cup as she walked around.

She hated the care home but hated being alone more.

She walked up to the bulletin board before seeing a Redwood camp poster.

Her blood went cold as she read the poster.

It had to be an old poster.

It had to be, right?

Suddenly a hand was placed on her shoulder causing her to jump.

"Sorry miss Revena but your grandmother is done with her physical" a nurse said with a sweet smile.

"Oh ok.

Thank you" Lola said.

Lola looked back at the poster before walking to her grandmother's room.

She opened the door to see her grandmother sitting in her rocking chair.

"Hi, Gran" Lola sat before sitting across from her.

"Oh, Lola I didn't see you come in" her grandmother said.

"Sorry.

How are you doing?" Lola asked.

"No idea lovie.

I expect im in tip-top shape" her grandmother said.

"I could go grab you some tea from the canteen if you want.

That always cheers you up" Lola said as her dirty blonde hair sat soft on her tense shoulders as the sun highlighted her pretty freckles and light green eyes.

"I'm alright.

You should get going.

The night's still young" her grandmother said.

"It's ok.

I have nothing to do" Lola said.

"You can't stay here all the time hon.

It's time you live your life" her grandmother said.

"We've been through this Gran.

I'm not like others my age.

I can't go out there and be reckless" Lola said.

Her grandmother took her hands "Nonsense.

You are better than them and to prove it I took it apon myself to sign you up to be a counsellor at this camp..oh, what was the name of it?

Ah, Camp Redwood" her grandmother said as her memory failed her.

Lola froze as she felt dread fill her stomach.

"What?" Lola said.

"Oh don't be like that.

It'll be fun.

A whole summer with people your age" her grandmother said.

Lola looked at her grandmother as she shook her head violently.

"Lola," her grandmother said seriously.

Lola looked at her grandmother.

"Ok," Lola said in defeat.

"Good now get going.

You need to be there before dark so you can help out" her grandmother said.

Lola nodded before walking out of the care home before rushing into her car.

She placed her hands over her eyes as she struggled to stop the tears.

Lola then looked in front of her before turning on the engine.

She then drove away as she questioned why she didn't remind her grandmother.

The memories haunted her and knowing that she was going to the place that took her sister away from her.

Hours passed as Lola drove up to the sign that she saw in her nightmares.

Darkness surrounded her car.

She drove into the camp parking lot before turning off her engine.

Lola sat in her car and looked around.

There was still time to go back home.

Lola turned the engine back on before thinking about what her grandmother said.

She had to start living her life.

Lola turned off the engine again before getting out of her car with her duffle and her dad's revolver.

She didn't know how to shoot a gun but felt safer when holding it.

Lola walked into the camp before looking around.

Suddenly she heard a sound she never thought she would ever have to hear.

Jangiling keys.

She ran her hands over her face before walking forward.

"Hey," a female voice caused Lola to jump out of her skin as she looked around before seeing a blonde woman walking towards her.

"What in heaven's name are you doing out here?" she asked.

"I'm a councillor here.

There was traffic" Lola said.

"Oh yeah.

Sorry, it's been a long day.

Follow me and I'll introduce you to everyone" the woman said.

"Ok," Lola said.

"You're very jumpy.

You feeling ok?" the woman asked.

"Yeah.

I hate the dark" Lola said.

"Oh, well say no more.

Come on" the woman said before walking away.

Lola looked around before following the woman.
