Chapter-1 "I hope never!"

Nia's POV

A few nice words can help a person lot more than we think.

"Hello everyone and welcome to The Cupid's Matchmaker! I am your very own Love Hacks Girl who is back to help you and answer all your questions, so here we go...." I speak into the microphone confidently, just like I've been doing since last year.

The Cupid's Matchmaker is the radio show which helps people with the problems they are facing in their love lives as individuals and I might add it is gaining more and more popularity among the teenagers these days which is not a good thing for me.

"First caller: Hey Liza, this is Myra and I have this huge problem that I need your help with. Last night I found my best friend and my boyfriend talking to each other. They seemed a little too cosy for my liking and I wonder if there is something going on between them but then again I don't want to doubt him since we've been dating for two years. I don't want to appear clingy by sticking to his side every waking minute; I really don't know what to do please help me." Hmm best friend with boyfriend problem? I've handled quite many of them. I thought about her problem and then replied.

"Myra, the first thing you've to do is confront your best friend about it. Don't ask her directly because if your assumptions are wrong then it might affect your friendship with her, try asking her discreetly, if she is nervous about it then there might be something but if she is confident don't doubt them, have some faith in them as both of them are close to you but do keep your eyes open." This is the best solution for her problem that I could think of.

"Thank you Liza, you are an angel! I'll do just what you told me. Thanks again! Bye."

"You're welcome Myra and Good Luck with it. Next caller....."

After three long tiring hours I finally take a look at my watch. Crap, it's 10 o'clock and a school night too. Mom is going to eat me alive. I rush towards Martha's cabin.

Martha is the owner of the radio channel. She is a sweet, sixty year old lady who I met last year in the nearby coffee shop. She was crying in the corner so I approached her and asked what was wrong and she told me that her show The Cupid's Matchmaker is about to air and the newbie girl she appointed for the job is not responding to any of her calls now and if the show doesn't air now she will lose a lot of money. She begged me to take that girl's place for that day and that she will find someone later. Since she was so depressed, I decided to help her with it by taking that girl's place for that day but surprisingly I enjoyed it myself. She then asked me to continue the job if I want and that she will even pay me double money. It was not like I was in need of money, my mother earned enough but I still agreed to it because I liked helping people and it was a fun job to do. So here we are now a year later and I am still enjoying this job but no one knows about it. Not even my mother. This secret is between Martha and me. I want to remain as anonymous as possible in High School, trust me I don't do well under attention. We use a voice changer while doing the show so that no one recognizes my voice. I even use the name Liza instead of Nia since my own best friend is the biggest fan of TCM and she'll immediately recognize me.

"Nia sweetheart, are you done with your work? Look what I brought for you today." Martha said as I came and sat next to her. She handed me a box.

"What is it Martha?" I asked her as I opened the box.
