another big meetup at the park house. the special occasion this time? minhyun's surprise birthday party. it wasn't that big of a party, just some friends and a bunch of family.
currently, one of their aunts and cousins were out with minhyun, distracting him while everyone who came early set up around the house.
y/n was running around the house putting up whatever decorations she had in hand. the party officially was going to start at 12, but their aunt had called saying that they would start making their way back at around 11-11:30, making the people in the house rush to get things done.
food was almost ready, cake was in the fridge, and decorations were being put up nicely.
gunwook was sticking balloon letters and decorations to the walls and whatever needed a balloon on it while so-hye was blowing the balloons up and preparing them with her friends.
since so-hye had the cast on her wrist (y/n was still pissed at sujin for it), she was busy with the helium tank and just blowing the balloons up. ever since she opened up to her and gunwook about the thing she had going on with yujin, the two seemed much closer and they were even sitting together right now.
"hey, n/n?" hanbin called out from the kitchen.
"yeah?" she called back.
"I kind of need your help!" he said, making y/n rush to the kitchen.
"what's wrong?" she rushed.
"I need help with the plates and utensils, and the snack towers and whatever keep on falling over." he replied, going over to the cupboard to pick up the plates, bowls, na whatnot.
"I'll do the food towers then." she told him, sliding over to an almost fallen juice box tower.

"THEY'RE ABOUT TO BE HERE IN T-MINUS FIFTEEN MINUTES!" junyeong yelled out from the top of the stairs.
"THE BALLOONS ARE ALMOST READY!" so-hye confirmed.
"WE'RE DONE WITH THE DECORATIONS AND THE FOOD!" y/n also confirms.
"THEN JUST FINISH THE BALLOONS!" youngmi yelled from the basement.
"GOT IT!" gunwook nods, going to help the group of high schoolers with the balloons.
"GUYS, ARE WE FINISHED OUTSIDE?" y/n called to the rest of gunwook's friends in the backyard.
"ALMOST!" matthew calls back, fixing up a few more things outside. jiwoong, hao, matthew, taerae, ricky, and gyuvin were all setting up some things in the backyard as in just a few outdoor games, the outdoor "photo booth," and other random things.
"A FEW MORE MINUTES AND THEN GET IN YOUR POSITIONS!" junyeong calls down from the second floor, making the "teams" who were still working on something hurry to finish and clean up.
a few minutes later and everything was cleaned up and ready. they were all in their "hiding spots" to surprise minhyun.
not long after, the doorbell ring was heard and the door opened. first came in the birthday boy and everyone popped out of their spots.
"SURPRISEEE! HAPPY BIRTHDAY MINHYUN!"
"AH! OH MY GOODNESS!" he flinched.
"happy birthday, minhyunnie!" y/n cheered, stepping out of the hiding spot and going up to minhyun.
"thank you everyone!" he thanked, jumping up and down in excitement and happiness.
"come on, all your friends are going to be here soon!" youngmi and junyeong grin, both giving the boy a hug and a kiss before he was whisked away to all his aunts, uncles, and cousins.
"I guess the party has begun!" y/n grinned to hanbin.

it was very, very late now. most of minhyun's friends left, obviously, and now it was just the teenagers and adults. the rest of the children who werent part of the "general older park siblings friend groups" were just cousins and extended family members who were still there.
the "general older park siblings friend groups" were sat in the basement, all the lights turned off with a horror movie playing on the large tv in front of them.
a jump scare came up and loud shrieks were heard from upstairs.
"GYUVIN I SWEAR TO GOD-" gunwook yelled after gyuvin decided to scare him right after the jump scare.
"WHO IS GRABBING MY LEG IM GOING TO CRY-" screamed hwayoung.
"SO-HYE SAVE ME-" yujin cried out.
"WHAT JUST GRABBED ONTO ME-" yunjin screamed.
another jump scare came up and y/n completely lost it. she screamed very loudly, and dropped the big empty bowl of popcorn onto the floor, making a loud bang sound.
the basement lights quickly turned on, revealing the large group all a screaming mess. so-hye was sobbing her eyes out from the movie, yujin trying to comfort her and get her to stop crying. she was always the type to cry when she was scared, mad, or frustrated. y/n and hanbin were on the couch with a laughing changmin and a terrified tina. y/n was leaning against him, her face now hiding in his chest. gunwook was clinging onto ricky, the foreigner gently rubbing his back.
"I think it's time for you all to stop watching this." spoke youngmi, the person at the stairs who turned the lights on. the mother turned off the movie and instead, started to play music on there. "you kids all calm down and then I'll let you play some fun party games." she told them, leaving back up the stairs.
"let's never watch a horror movie together again." yejin shakily says, the group nodding at her.
"never again." yejun says, rubbing so-hye's back.
