Wei Ying looks at his suitcase and tries not to cry.
He has to leave, and there's no other choice left for him now.
He makes a concentrated effort to stand up when there's a knock on his door.
He goes to answer it, not really feeling like having any company, especially not Jiang YanLi or Jiang Cheng, not when he has already said his goodbyes… in a manner of speaking.
He's barely opened the door when it's pushed in all the way and Huaisang enters, armed with a six packs of Emperor's Smile.
"Wei-Xiong!! Let's get trashed!"
***********
When he wakes up, Wei Ying groans and wonders why the sun is so bright, hurting his head further. A groan from the floor next to his bed alerts him that he's not alone. He peeks over the edge of his bed and sees Huaisang on the floor, clutching his blanket and turning over.
His eyes catch on the suitcase by the door, and he sits up far too quickly, making his head pound. Lying down is the only thing which helps, and so he does that, thinking of why he's still here, in Lotus Pier.
He had been just about ready to run for his life, quite literally.
He remembers the "family" dinner less than twenty-four hours ago, where Madam Yu told him that the Lan family had put in a formal request for his hand in marriage to the Second Jade, Lan WangJi, and she had already signed the papers.
The rest of the dinner had passed in silent shock, with both of his siblings too distraught to say anything… but one of them must have contacted Huaisang, because Wei Ying remembers telling him everything after a few cans of his favourite drink.
He had one week before the marriage, now six days left, before Lan WangJi would come to Lotus Pier and they would marry.
Six days…
Wei Ying remembers complaining to Huaisang that he didn't even know what Lan WangJi looked like…
Oh no!!!
His head throbs along with his heartbeat, as he recalls what Huaisang had told him.
"If you want to know what he looks like, just send him a friend request on Twitter. Or Instagram. He's on both, but as a private account. Here's his @name." Huaisang had grabbed his phone and done it for him, before Wei Ying could protest.
Right now, Wei Ying stares at his phone as if it was a cockroach.
He can see the notification of both Twitter and Instagram. He picks Twitter.
@Hanguang-Bun has accepted his friend request.
Straight away.
It's too early for this.
But Wei Ying has never shied away from the inevitable, and even suffering through a hangover, he's not going to start now.
His finger hits the right button and he sees the chat opening up.
WEI YING: Hiii! We don't know each other, but apparently, we're going to get married???😅🫣😱😭
HANGUANG-BUN: Mn.
WY: But I don't know what you look like! And you don't know what I look like!!!
HGB: That's easily rectified.
There's a picture of a bare shoulder with a dragon tattoo, the mouth of the dragon climbing up his arm, so the tail must be closer to his elbow. But his muscles… on his back??? Gorgeous.
