Quinn
I watched the glee club perform 'You Can't Stop The Beat' last week from the rafters in the auditorium. Which just reminded of when Sue, myself and Santana watched the glee club do Don't Stop Believin' for the very first time. I watched as Ryan, Puck and Finn all jammed out together during the song, still very much like those eleven year old kids way back when. Yet so different. The way they could all mess around and be happy, like the last couple years didnt affect anything. Like I didn't affect anything.
The three of them playing together reminded me of Burt and Carole's Wedding, and then that, in turn reminded me of Frannie's wedding. And then I spiralled into thoughts about summer. How perfect it all started out...
*Flashback*
"So you're coming to Frannie's Wedding right?" My mom asked Ryan one Sunday afternoon around the dinner table. It was all she could talk about. Every moment of everyday it was constantly Frannie's Wedding this and Frannie's wedding that. My sister had asked her to help plan everything and Mom hadn't taken the task lightly. She was a Mom'zilla. Frannie had created a monster.
"Well I haven't actually be asked to yet" Ryan replied and smirked in my direction.
"Since when did I need to ask you?" I smirked back matching his tone.
"Is it too much to ask that sometimes I be the one wooed in this relationship?" He continued to smirk at me. "Honestly Judy, your daughter sometimes..." He said and mum watched on with that dreamy look in her eye. I swear she's at times as in love with Ryan as I am with the way she watches him. I frowned at the thought. I don't want to think about that.
"I never usually have to ask. I tell you to show up... and you just do as you're told." I said trying to be serious. Channelling my HBIC. It's been a while. But he knew I was only joking.
"Wow, and they say romance is dead" Ryan deadpanned at me and we both burst out laughing.
"Oh you two!" Mom said watching us interact. "So you'll be there?" She asked him again.
"Wouldn't miss it for the world, Judy" He said "That and I'd have three very angry Fabray women after me if I didn't" He said shrinking back in his chair.
"Yeah and you don't want that" I said narrowing my eyes at him. He winked in my direction and placed a hand on my thigh under the table. I nearly jumped at the contact. But mum was none the wiser. So I placed my hand over his, not wanting him to take it away just yet.
**********
"So I believe that somewhere in the shit show that was prom-gate..." Ryan began from where we'd retired to my room, lounging on my bed watching re runs of friends. "We missed our one year anniversary" He said it so casually while I was playing with his fingers absentmindedly.
I pushed up from my place resting on his chest to smirk down at him.
"Why, I am impressed Mr Hastings" I smirked "Remembering our anniversary without me dropping any hints at you"
"I have my moments" He winked. I smiled and kissed his lips softly. Man I missed him. I love him.
"I love you" I couldn't help but say against his lips.
"I love you too" He smiled into the kiss. "But I believe I may need to make that up to you." He raised and eyebrow.
I furrowed mine in confusion.
