Jiro POV:
Haru and I have been best friends for about... I can't recall right now but we have been friends for as long as I can remember. He was always quite timid and wouldn't talk a lot. But he would comfort me whenever I needed it, really... Except for when high school came.
So, bit of context here, we have been together since the beginning of elementary school-the oldest memories I remember- and we enrolled into the same middle school and high school. But, something happened. In middle school, I wasn't the happiest, per say... Middle school bullies really are something else. Ugh, just thinking about them makes my blood pressure go up. Even though it really wasn't anything that special, it still got to me and I don't know why. It was so specific and harmful that... I really have to stop talking about them.
Fast forward to the first day of high school.

"Hey, Haru! Haven't seen you in a bit. How was your trip to the south?"
"Oh, Jiro. I liked it, I really did. Wow... you got really tall. What happened?"
"I have no clue." I laughed nervously. "I mean, I can't take T yet, so I guess the universe was on my side this break."
"Really now? Last time I saw you, you were playing with the neighboring cat, Hiko."
"Yeah, she's really cute! Did you know she might have kittens this season?"
"That's cool! I mean, I have my own cats at home but, you know. Kittens are always welcome." He smiled.
We walked a bit until we reached the entrance.
"This school's huge."
"Well, yeah, it's a high school."
"I wasn't expecting this, honestly."
"What time is it?"
And, once I asked that question, the bell rang for class.
"Shit."
"Ironic." Haru laughed.
We entered the school to look for our classroom. It wasn't really different from our middle school so we got a hang of the area pretty quickly.
"I think we have the same class, no?"
"Probably."
"What, you don't read the class charts here?"
"Who says I have to?" Haru laughed.
I sighed while swiftly passing someone with a familiar air in the hallway. I stopped and looked back.
"Why did you stop? We're gonna be late!"
"Oh, it's Ichika. I forgot about her. I thought it was someone else. Let's go, we'll meet her at break time."
"So, Ichika from middle school goes here too? That's... cool, I guess."
We hurried to class 4C as our new homeroom. When we entered, we noticed people were still standing and our homeroom teacher wasn't here yet. I sighed in relief.
"Jiro, let's go find our spots." Haru said, clearly tired from running so much.
Once I saw my name on one of the seats, I scurried towards it, hoping no one would notice me. I scanned the room. Thankfully, no one from my middle school was in this class. They all kinda sucked anyway.
