After a spectacular third period on doubleheader Thursday, the Quinnipiac Bobcats return to the
Sunshine State to play for the national championship against the Minnesota Golden Gophers tonight with the eyes of the college hockey world on Tampa. With 14:25 left in the first period, John Mittelstadt scored to make it 1-0 Minnesota. Yaniv Perets and Justen Close matched zeros for the remainder of the period so, the Golden Gophers lead 1-0 heading to the second period. With 15:36 left in the second period, Jaxon Nelson scored to make it 2-0 Gophers. With 12:19 left in the second period, Cristophe Tellier scored his eighth goal of the season to make it 2-1 Minnesota. Perets and Close matched zeros for the remainder of the period so, Minnesota is twenty minutes away from a national championship because of a 2-1 lead heading to period number three in the national championship game. With 2:47 left in the third period, Collin Graf scored his twenty-first goal of the season to tie the game 2-2. Perets and Close matched zeros for the remainder of regulation so, 2-2 we stand and we'll play extra national championship hockey because of a 2-2 tie between Quinnipiac and Minnesota. With 19:50 left in overtime, Jacob Quillan scored his nineteenth goal of the season to win the national championship for the Bobcats 3-2!
