You get the papers to finalize your transfer to Hope's Peak the next day and your parents are more than happy to sign them. The day after that, you bring them to Ms. Yukizome after school. She tells you that all you have to do is wait until the process is done, after which the academy will notify you and your parents.

Now, the day after that, you are hanging out with Nagito at a park, sharing some popcorn he brought for the two of you to much on. It's getting colder each day. Fall is just around the corner. The leaves are gradually beginning to change colour around you. You guess it'll be less than a week before it shows itself in its full force.

"I hope they process your paperwork soon," Nagito says after a while of just sitting there with you eating. "I'm still shivering at the thought of whatever bad luck will happen after this! I...I haven't had something like this happen in a long time."

You can tell that he's scared. His luck cycle is dangerous. Given what his cycle has done to him in the past, he has a right to be afraid. Even though he has a happy smile on his face, you know quite well that he is truly worried about what will happen...likely because he's afraid of it happening to you. You can see that he is even sweating a bit as he smiles, which he tends to do a lot when he's nervous. Since it's cold, it makes it quite obvious that it's an anxious type of sweating.

You assure him things will probably be fine, though you don't blame him if he doesn't feel relieved. In truth, there's no way to know for sure if anything will happen to you. You just hope his bad luck takes a hike for once. He deserves happiness without having to live in fear.

He just chuckles. "I just hope you're right, (y/n). Perhaps my bad luck will choose me as its target instead." He abruptly changes the topic. "Oh, right- Ms. Yukizome is thinking of organizing a school trip. It'll be an overnight stay. Would you like to come with us? I'm sure it'll be just as fun as the summer trip we had shortly after Chiaki was chosen to be our class rep."

You remember the tiny surge of envy you'd felt after hearing how much fun the class beach trip had been. Nagito had told you that everyone had a blast. Even people like Ryota and Fuyuhiko enjoyed themselves during that beach trip.

You enthusiastically tell him that you would love to come on the overnight trip. The thought of going on a trip at all was enough to send a shiver of excitement down your spine, but the fact that it was an overnight one where you'd be with Nagito Komaeda all weekend...well, that sealed the deal for you.

His voice is filled with fondness after you give him your answer. "Great! I'm glad. This trip will be splendid. Our teacher is truly amazing, isn't she? She's truly someone who spreads hope everywhere she goes. I can see why she was sought out to be an ultimate."

As you look at him, you can't help but smile. You love him so much...you wish you could tell him that. Just watching him talk about hope and seeing the joy and admiration in his eyes makes your heart melt. He'll never understand how he truly is worthy of living alongside his classmates. Perhaps more worthy than some of his classmates themselves. While everyone else seems to find him weird and doesn't have much interest in understanding him, you don't think he's that hard to read at all.

He continues to ramble on. "Ms. Yukizome is truly worthy of teaching a generation of ultimates! And the ultimates themselves...well, they always show their full colours whenever we go on trips or do other events together! This trip is going to be filled with hope. I can feel it!"

As Nagito begins to hug himself with his arms, you stifle a giggle. He's just so adorable when he goes on these weird little rants! But you still understand him. You understand how much hope means to him, regardless of how weird it is.

You tell him that you're sure the trip will be loads of fun. As you do, you just can't help but wish that you could bring yourself to tell him how you feel about him. You think to yourself that perhaps the day will come. For now, you don't want to ruin the beautiful friendship the two of you have.

Something tells you that you will have to confess your feelings to him some time...but that time won't be right now. If you can, you'll hold it off for a while. Although you wish things were easier, you know that not everything can be perfect. You decide you'll just be thankful that Hope's Peak has accepted you to be a student. That's a huge accomplishment and a massive win for you. It should be enough to keep you happy for the next while...to keep your mind off the confusion that is love. You'll be getting to know the other students, which will hopefully distract you from all that.

But you know it's not that easy. Love is never that easy, especially when the person you love is someone with an odd worldview and a cycle of supernatural luck.

"Whatever happens, I'm so happy you get to come!" Nagito explains. "It'll help you get to really settle in. The trip should be happening sometime next week. Ms. Yukizome is just checking with the school to make sure it's alright to go. She's hoping it'll be from Thursday to Friday."

It's Monday today. There's well over a week until next Thursday and Friday. You wonder if you'll be accepted into the academy by then.

You tell Nagito that sounds good to you. You have a feeling that the trip will be absolutely wonderful!
