A couple days later, Avery was getting ready to hang out with Lucas and their friend group at Six Flags Fiesta. She was waiting for the boys to come pick her up. Avery quickly got ready for the day by quickly showering and deciding her outfit. She decided on a sunny yellow top and a pair of jeans, and her white Nike blazers.

She quickly did her makeup and spritzed her Into the Night perfume onto her wrists and neck

She quickly did her makeup and spritzed her Into the Night perfume onto her wrists and neck. Picking up her cell phone, she dialed Lucas number and waited for his answer. Moments went by and the call went to voicemail. Her eyebrows arched in confusion. Lucas never let the phone ring more than 3 times, much less go to voicemail. She tried again, biting her lip and whispering, "Pick up, Luke, pick up." One ring, then two, then three, then four, the voicem-

"Hi, babe. I just got out of the shower. Sorry for not picking up before. I heard it ring and immediately was like, "Crap, I gotta answer it. But I'm sorry for making you worry,"
"Oh, your fine, baby boy. I was just checking on you. You almost ready?" Avery smiled as her love's voice responded.
"I have to get dressed and then Peter'll be here with his girl and her sister. So I gotta get ready. But I'll see you soon baby. Gosh darn, half of my good clothes are packed. You need to come back over and help me. Anyways, see you in ten, my girl. I love you, sweetheart," Lucas replied with joy.
"Mkay, lover boy. See you in a bit, baby. I love you too, you goof, mwah!" she giggled before shoving her phone into her pocket. Avery started putting mini braids into her highlighted blonde hair. She stuck her air pods in and put on some rando pop songs.

Twelve minutes later, she heard Lucas's signature knock of 5 knocks and then he said, "Do you wanna build a snowman?" Avery grabbed her bag and ran downstairs to open the oak door and see Lucas in a brown sweatshirt and khakis and his matching white Nike blazers.

He picked her up and spun her and said, "Hey, beautiful girl!" He set her down and his eyes scanned her up and down. "How do you manage to look even more incredibly breathtaking when I see you?" His hand had cupped her face and he leaned down and kissed her. He groaned and murmured against her lips, "I love you, Aves," and she smiled against his lips and drew back for a second and looked and him and replied, "I love you too, Luke." Avery started to lean back in but she heard her friend Peter shout, "C'mon you simps. Hurry up, and makeout in the back of the truck. It'll save time, geez."

The two looked at each other and smiled. Avery locked the house up, her family gone already to run errands. She climbed into the car and squeezed in next to her best friend, Charity. Lucas slid in next to Avery, and off they were. Peter's girlfriend, Grace was in the front, already blasting Tennessee Orange.

"Alright gals, I wanna hear y'all on this one!" she yelled from the front seat.

Windows down and hair blowing in the wind, everyone started singing along. When the chorus came around, the girls yelled

"I met somebody, and he's got blue eyes.
He opens the door, and he don't make me cry.
He ain't from where we're from, but he feels like home.
In Georgia they call it a sin,
but I'm wearing Tennessee Orange for him."

When the chorus came around, Avery sang, "I met somebody, and he's got green eyes," and she pecked Lucas on the cheek. He laughed and put his hoodie and hat on her. She blushed and gave him a hug, cuddling him and singing the rest of the song along with everyone.

She smiled as they pulled into the parking lot. They scanned their passes and all walked in together. The group walked til they reached the Batman ride. Avery, Charity, and Grace all looked at the ride, watching riders whiz by.

Lucas gawked and nervously shifted before declaring, "No way. No way in hell. No fricking way. No, no, no..."

15 minutes later he found himself strapped into the ride next to his girlfriend, who was grinning like a devil. She smiled and held his hand and giggled, "Don't worry, baby boy, it'll be over before you know it."

He shook his head and smiled nervously, "Woman, you are going to kill me. Oh crap- we're moving," he mumbled curses under his breath, and he squeezed Avery's hand. The yellow bars in front of him and the ground below him stared menacingly. He mumbled, "Holy Shaquille O'Neal, GOSH- I'M GONNA DIE, I LOVE YOU AVERY JADE KENSINGTON," he yelled before the ride sped up, gaining momentum.

"WOOOOOOOOOO, FASTER, FASTER, FASTER! WOOOOOOOO, THIS IS AWESOME," squealed Avery, hands in the air, and her smile curved.

Each corkscrew and loop-de-loop made a weird feeling in the pit of Lucas stomach, and he finally yelled, "WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, HOLY- I'M GONNA DIE AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" The sensation of nausea died down and thrill and adrenaline kicked in. He grinned and lifted up his hands and whooped and hollered.

As quick as the ride had started, it came to the end, and they were pulling back into the entry. They were unbuckled by a worker and exited together, the girls and Lucas.

"Dude, you screamed like a sissy, and I got it on camera," snorted Peter, showing everyone. They all laughed and Avery smugly put in, "If Luke's the sissy, what does that make you? You didn't even go on, scaredy cat." she taunted, crossing her arms.

"Alright, pipe down, darling. He obviously is sensitive and needs a slushy. Baby Pete need a cherry slushy? Hmm?" Lucas slugged his best friend in the arm and Peter rolled his eyes and laughed.
"Damn right, I do. But not until after I beat you in basketball. C'mon Gracey, watch me smoke Luke in basketball."

The rest of the day the group spent the day playing basketball (Luke dominated), drinking Coke slushies, and winning prizes from the arcade. The drive home was calm, with drama, occasional jokes, and sarcastic remarks and giggles.

Peter pulled up to the Kensington's driveway. He grumbled out, "I'll drop Charity off, and then swing back to pick you up, Lukey poo. We'll be 10 minutes, so make it quick," since Charity lived a couple streets down, and Luke, Peter, and Grace lived in the other direction.

Walking Avery to the front door, Lucas hugged her close and laughed, "Next time we got to Six Flags, I am not going on any ride with you, sweetheart. You are out to kill me."

She spun around as they stood on the porch and she giggled, "You'll listen to me, no matter what!"

He mumbled, "Not if I shut you up" and leaned down and kissed her. Her back was against the door, and his one hand was pulling her face towards him. His other hand pulled her in by the waist. She sighed happily and passionately kissed him back. Her hands snaked into his hair and she gripped it. His lips trailed down to her neck, and he left a couple of hickeys. She hissed and whined, "Luke, my parents will see!" He shook his head and trailed back to her lips.  After a couple of minutes, they pulled back, panting for breath, and they sat on the porch steps.

"You still coming over tomorrow? I still need help packing, love." Lucas pulled her head to his chest and wrapped his arms around her. The moonlight shed its beams on the two, and she yawned before replying.

"If you pick me up and if your parents are fine with it," Avery softly muttered, tired from the day's events. She hugged Lucas and her lashes fluttered to a close.

"Of course, they're fine with it. They love you, my pretty girl," Lucas stroked her blonde hair and hummed.

"Okay! Thank you for the fun today, baby boy. I'm so happy that we're together. I love you," she laid on his shoulder and whispered in his ear.

Peter pulled up with Grace in his car, and yelled, "Let's go Lukey poo! I have a curfew, and my parents'll tan my hide if I'm not home in 17 minutes!"

Avery stood up and started taking off his sweatshirt and hat but Lucas stopped her. "Wear it. You look even more adorable. I'll text you when I get home. I love you, sweetheart, Goodnight!"
He kissed her cheek and her lips one last time before hopping in the truck and waving goodbye.

Avery smiled and yelled, "Sleep well, baby boy! I love you even more, goofball! Goodnight and be safe!"

Avery flopped on her bed and smiled at the memories she made that day with her friends.
