I said looking at the baby and then at Semaje with tears in my eyes. " Who's going to cut the umbilical cord"? The nurse asking holding the scissors in her hands. " Bestie, will you cut the cord please"? I asked looking at Semaje who's face lit up in excitement. " You know I will!!!" The nurse smiled and gave Semaje the scissors. " We're going to take the baby, and allow you to get cleaned up. She will be back". The nurse said reaching for the baby. I kissed her before letting her go. I'm in love with her already. " What's her name "? One of the nurses asked with an sticker in her hand. " Kehlani Nicole Smith". She have her moms middle name & her dads last name. " Beautiful name ". The nurse said before walking out. I can't believe I have a baby now. It feels so unreal.
2 weeks later ....
Kehlani is 2 weeks old. I love her whole little life. I lay under her all day. I'm still in my own place, Im still going to school but I'm taking it online. " The person you are trying to reach has a voicemail box that has not been set up". I hung up the phone. " Why the fuck do you keep trying to call them bro? They obviously don't wanna talk to you". DonDon said coming out of the bathroom and laying down in the bed. " I wouldn't have to worry about that, if you would've just kept your hands to yourself". I said getting up out of the bed and grabbing the baby bottles off my nightstand. " Man ion wanna hear that shit, yo dad is disrespectful". He said following me out of the room. " And you are too, so I'm not sure why you're saying that". I put the bottles in the sink and put some dish soap in them both. " Man shut up bro, you just be fucking talking dawg". He sat on the stool that's in front of my bar facing the kitchen. " Why are you even here? You have your own house to go to". I asked him while putting the baby bottles in the bottle warmer. He slammed down his cup and walked over to me. " I know you didn't just ask me that dumb ass question". He pushed me into the wall making me hit my head really hard. " What are you doing? Why are you pushing me into walls"? I asked him, but instead of him saying anything back he just slapped me real hard and I slid down the wall unconscious.
I woke up to my baby screaming and crying. I ran to her really fast and picked her up. " I'm sorry, mommy is so sorry". I started to cry. I walked into the kitchen with her in my hands still and made her a bottle. DonDon was nowhere around. I laid back on the couch with baby still in my hands, I fed her until she went back to sleep. I admired her the whole time she was sleeping. I kissed her on her cheek and she smiled, that indicated me that she knows I'm still here. I got up off the couch and went into my bedroom. I put Kehlani back in the bed and took a quick little shower. When I got out I seen she was still asleep, so I was good. I have plenty of time to cook me some dinner. Why no one ever told me that once you have a baby, all your " me time " is gone? 😩 I put on my pajamas, and walked into the kitchen. I'll just order me some Wingstop and watch a movie. " Your dasher is approaching with your order". A notification popped up on my phone, I jumped up out of bed and walked to the door. I unlocked it and opened the door. " Armoni? " He asked with a deep voice, but it sounded too familiar. " Yes, that's me ". I reached for the bag, but before giving it to me, he paused. " Armoni? It's me Jay'Quan when you move out from over there with DonDon? I heard y'all got a baby and stuff now". He asked and then handing me the bag with my food in it. " Oh hey Quan, i been out here for a minute now, and yes we do have a baby ". I chuckled and grabbed my bag of food. " Why you working for Doordash"? I asked out of curiosity. " Man I owe that nigg-" Before he could finish what he was about to say, I heard DonDon voice " TF YOU DOING HERE QUAN, YOU THINK SHIT A GAME? I TOLD YOU TO STAY AWAY FROM ME AND ANYTHING I OWN IF YOU AINT GOT MY MONEY YET". I just closed the door. I already know what's about to happen next, I might as well get prepared..
