It was an unusually warm night as plans were being made. On this particularly hot night stood Bruce Garfield, a notorious criminal. Bruce was known for his explosive temper, possibly why his nights felt warmer than others.
Like any other night, Bruce was deciding on where and how he should hit. Bruce had decided a museum was the easiest target . Though in nature museum heists tended to be easy, this one was like no other. The museum in question holds some special treasures.
Bruce had patiently waited until nightfall. Although dark, the night had not become cooler. For him, at least, his head ran hot. It was time for the heist to begin for Bruce, and he ran alone as he thought he didn't need help. He had begun to make his way into the property.
Bruce needed an in. There were multiple night guards stationed at each entrance, inside, and on the roof. Bruce didn't exactly know how many as the schedules changed rather frequently. Slowly he would sneak his way onto the premise.
In front of the museum was a garden for those to walk through, with a curfew of 8pm. The time was 10:30pm as Bruce slowly inched his way through. Sticking to shadows as he slowly but surely made his way towards the side of the building. While passing through he spotted a few guards making their way through the garden. The hardest part of the garden was arriving shortly,at the front of it right before the museum. Before the museum was mostly small flower beds and grass, a few bushes but not enough to give him cover. Slowly but surely Bruce crawled along the small flower beds. Inches from Bruce, guards would walk and talk. Barely not noticing him as he had thankfully worn the right attire to fit in with the shadows. Finally after about an hour of slowly crawling right under security, Bruce made it to the actual museum.
Making it this far he had decided determinedly to go all the way. Bruce would crouch and move to the side of the building. There were a few guards along the walls of the museum, but none in view of Bruce and vice versa at the moment. Though the actual nightguards changed often along with the schedules, the paths did not. Eventually Bruce made his way to a relatively large air vent. After a few minutes of silently fiddling with it, he popped it open and would crawl inside. The inside of the air was dirty and musty, it was barely able to hold him, but it would do. Though the route worked it did make Bruce a little upset on how dirty he was getting. As known by most Bruce had an explosive temper. Though he knew he needed to keep a cool head, it was difficult for him. The warm night had gotten even hotter for Bruce.
Bruce crawled his way and out of the vent. Before his eyes was a marvelous sight to say the least. Dozens and dozens of artifacts and such for the taking. There wasn't much he could hold as he only had a backpack, but he got to work. A trinket here, a necklace there, the museum was packed full of goods as it was focused on many areas of study. The museum had multiple wings and branches, but the longer he stayed the riskier it became. Though Bruce knew the dangers, he loved the thrill and ventured one location to another. As Bruce walked he heard multiple guards walking together towards him, he realized there weren't many places to hide, he pressed against the wall, hoping it would work. Three night guards walked towards him as he clung to the wall as they passed by. When they were about to turn the corner the soot from the ventilation shafts got its way into his nose, making him sneeze. Silence filled the air for what felt like forever, then suddenly as he turned he'd notice them staring, a bright light shined on him.
It was not long before he began booking it, running like his life depended on it. Not very far behind him were the security officers chasing him in hot pursuit. The guards were yelling at him but to him they were background noise. He kept running but they were gaining on him, his stamina running low. As he was sprinting to the front doors two guards stepped in and joined the chase. Bruce turned a corner as he needed to find a different way out. More and more guards got a lock on his location, running as the adrenaline kicked in. Fight or flight kicking in he chose flight, but he was getting tired. Bruce couldn't keep this up. What's worse is that due to reckless running, he kept losing the valuables, running low. Next to none left Bruce only had a few trinkets and a necklace. Bruce tripped, spraining his knee as he fell.
Not knowing what to do as guards surrounded him on all sides he tried to stuff everything in his pockets. A multitude of guards pointing their stun guns at him, yelling for him to lie facing down with his hands up. Under a lot of pressure the trinkets began falling out of his pockets as he tried to scramble to get up. One of the items that fell out was the necklace, reaching for it as the guards were ready to shoot. For whatever reason when he took the necklace in hand, he began to put it on out of desperation. As they began to open fire with their stun guns a light formed as he put the necklace on.
Bruce's hot night got even hotter, blazing even. A bright hot light formed around Bruce, he had been lit ablaze. Screaming out in agony as his insides were boiling. His hair was sizzling as his eyes melted out of their sockets, his skin peeling and burning off. It didn't take very long at all for Bruce to turn to ash, however, the fire didn't stop there. Soon the museum began burning. The fire started small, the guards tried stamling it out, then extinguishing it, but nothing worked. The fires embers spread not only to the other branches, but to the people as well. The guards followed a similar fate to Bruce as the museum became a disaster of smoke and fire. Eventually the fire was put out due to hundreds of gallons of water and fire fighting chemicals. The fire settled and the smoke cleared, the museum and all the beauties it held gone. Bruce's actions this day went to show that one's actions can and will have consequences, especially unforeseeable ones. However hot your desires burn, the fiery pits of hell will burn hotter.
