Amys living with her mum in a small town outside of London together with two husky's. Her brother moved in with their father since him and her mother didn't get along and always fought till it got to the point the police got involved. Amy never really got the chance to feel sad about her brother moving out since it was for the better, she still always felt a bit hurt towards him because now she had to deal with their mother alone and she really isn't an easy person to get along with. The second her brother moved out her mother started fighting with Amy more often but it never escalated as much as it did when her brother and mother had an argument. Whenever Amy and her mother had an argument, Amy would just be silent and let her mother let all her anger out and say whatever she wanted to her. Despite of her mother being a super hard person to get along with. Her father was quite the opposite he always has been more quieter and soother even when they where still together he would try and get into as less arguments with her mother as possible to keep the peace in the house but since he left it has been rough. Even though Amy and her father had a decent relationship they still don't keep in contact that much. Sometimes she texts him photos of the two huskies waiting for her father to respond and maybe initiate a conversation with her but he would always respond with a thumbs up and nothing more. She felt disappointed every time, even though she should've been used to her father being distant because he has always been like this.
Last week Amy went to visit her brother and father and made the suggestion to go out sometimes and get lunch or dinner. Her brother supported her and planned out the whole thing he decided on an Italien restaurant and reserved us a table for next Friday her father didn't seem too excited about it but agreed. He never was really expressioned so she wasn't surprised about the lack of emotions involved in his answer.
It's friday morning. Amy's currently walking to the train station to go and meet with her father and brother. She's very excited but feels a bit stressed and unsure about how everything will go down. Arriving at their flat she rings the bell and waits for them to open the door for her. The door is made out of foggy glass so it's makes it easier for her to see when someone's approaching the door. Quickly after the door opens her father greets her with a soft smile and says "Hello! Come in."
"Hi." She says while questioning wether she should hug him or not. She decided not to and walk past him to the living room. She sits down in one of the sofa chairs "Where's Lukas?" she asks
"He's running late, he went out with some friends last night and decided to sleep at one of their houses he will be here in about an hour or so."
"Ok."
"Would you like something to drink?" He asks while already turning around and walking towards the kitchen.
"A glass of water please." she answered. He comes back with a glass of water and a cup of coffee for himself. Both of them now sit at the small living room table in silence. Amy's feeling a bit unusual but still tries making conversation. She ended up asking him about work since he just recently got a new job, the conversation went on for the next few minutes but then there's this awkward silence again. Amy's questioning rather her father just doesn't know what to say or he just doesn't want to talk to her.The hour went by pretty slowly while both of them were switching between casual conversation and silence. At some point someone would go on their phone checking their notifications. Finally Lukas arrives. The second he comes in and sits down with them her father becomes more chatty and more relaxed. It's wasn't anything new to Amy that the both of them had a better relationship then her and her father but that it was so noticeable made her a bit sad. She tried shaking the feeling of and tried jumping into the conversation but every time she contributed something her father acted odd. Which furthermore made Amy feel uneasy and almost distant to the whole situation. She excused herself and went to the bathroom to flee the awkward tension. She spend a solid five minutes on the toilet just overthinking.
It's now 5 pm and they decided to go and get dinner. The whole car ride she spend on her phone not trying to get into their conversation since it didn't matter anyways if she contributed something. As they arrived at the restaurant and got seated Amy tried starting a conversation by asking what everyone wanted to eat. It did work but not short after she got excluded from the conversation again and just sat there staring at the menu. As they waited for their food to arrive Amy felt herself slowly spacing out and just feeling a bit off. Neither her brother or father noticed it and just kept on talking to each other.
The dinner went by pretty fast. Amy wasn't noticed there anyways so she kind of stopped paying attention to the whole thing and just daydreamed the remaining time. Her father called one of the waiters over to pay the check After that they all started walking back to the car and started driving back home. Amy and her brother started talking and we're cracking jokes like usual but still no effort from her father to get talking with her.
Her father decided on driving Amy home since it was pretty late already and he didn't want her to take the train this late because there are a lot of weird people around at night. Amy felt a bit relieved after seeing that he does care for her. But then again shouldn't that just be a normal thing for a father to care about his daughters safety. She started overthinking if she may have over reacted about the whole thing and her father isn't actually acting weird and she's just making it all up. She snapped out of it when her brother told her that they've arrived.
"It was really fun, thanks for driving me home!" Amy says smiling at the both of them and getting out of the car
"No problem. See you next time." her father says already getting ready to drive off again. Her brother gives her a quick smile and waves at her while she opens the front door of her house.Amy's mother is already asleep so she quickly goes up to her room and gets ready for bed. She can't stop thinking about the day and how she felt the whole time. Before going to sleep she gets out her diary and tries writing her thoughts and feelings down hoping to get more clarity.
