I walk along the streets at dusk, wishing this wasn’t my life. It is though, even if I don’t want it to be, I didn’t choose this path no matter what people say. They’re all liars. Just liars…

Chapter 1
It’s the night before the first day of my freshman year. Great, this should be fun, being in high school with people four years older than me. Eighth grade I couldn’t wait for this year, but now it feels like sixth grade all over again. Not knowing the school, not knowing the teachers, not knowing the food. Maybe the food’s worse than middle school food! Shit, that’d be terrible!
Today I had to go clothes shopping. Who ever said shopping was fun is a total liar. There are some people that think it is fun though. I have no idea why. I’m too young to drive of course, I’m only 14, so my mom makes me try everything on, including bras, which is really embarrassing if you ask me. At least I got a new Black Veil Brides tee. I’d give anything to meet those guys! They’re frickin awesome!
I hear footsteps coming towards my room so I prepare myself for the yearly lecture about having my book bag packed, and having money for lunch, and having my clothes set out for the next day, but they stop too soon. They’re not headed for my room; they’re headed for the door. I wonder why? I hear the door open and slam shut. I open my door and call,
“Mom? Was that you?”
No answer.
I decide to go investigate.
I go out to the living room. First stop on the search of my mom. I hear the tv on so I run in with my hopes up to be sadly disappointed by an empty chair and an empty can if pepsi. Next I go to the kitchen when something catches my eye. There's something on the counter, which my mom always keeps clean. I run up to it and see a hastily written note in my moms handwriting. It says "Akyra, I'm sorry this is so sudden but I have to leave for a while. I don't know when I'll be back, or if I'll be back. All I know is that I'll be away. Akyra please don't be mad, and please don't try to find your father, alright? Love, Mom"
No... No.... No..... This can't be happening.... This stuff only happens in books and movies, not in... in... my boring life. I run to my moms room frantically not believing she's gone. It must be a joke... right?!?! I mean, this stuff never happens to normal people like me, I haven't even gotten my drivers license, I don't even know how to ride a bike for crying out loud! I finally reach her room only to find it was torn apart all the clothes missing, everything...But then something glints on her dresser, its gold and sparkling in the yellow artificial light. Its my mom's favorite necklace that she wears with her on special occasions... I start crying, still not believing that's she's truly gone... I run outside to find the car missing. I run over to my neighbor's to ask if my mom is there.
"Akyra, what're you doing here?" says Delilah, my neighbor.
"Nevermind that, is my mom here?" I ask frantically.
"No sweetie, I'm sorry, are you looking for her?"
I ignore my neighbor and run out of the trailer and into the street. I run all the way to the entrance to the trailer park I live in. Still no sign of her... I collapse by the side of the road crying. Where could she have gone?! Sobs rack my body as I slowly walk back to my trailer. I won't tell anyone she's gone. I'll just live for myself for a little while. I'll wait, maybe she'll come back. So I'll just wait. I'll just wait 'til she comes back.
