Dear, Sibylla, December 3, 1170
I do hope to see you home for Christmas, I know that you are busy with your studies, and so am I. I have been quite well, father is well too, he sends his love and the best of regards. Things have been boring around here recently, and my teacher always seems to find a way to keep me learning. Though I do not care for a lot of the stuff being taught, I listen eagerly to history lessons. I enjoy reading, but only when it is about topics that I like. Perhaps I am just a difficult child? Whenever I am given some free time I go and play outside with the other boys. They rough house with one another and I become a victim of their fights. They tend to pinch and playfully punch each other, and I'm not sure why, but I can never seem to feel pain when they pinch me. I don't know if I should tell father about this, It does not seem that big a deal to me, maybe I have a rare skin condition or something? Whatever it may be, I am sure that it shall pass. Father said that once I am ten I'll be given horse riding lessons. I'm looking forward to that, even though it is many months away from now. I hope to become the most skilled horseback rider in Jerusalem! I am sure I can do it, and I will try my best. I know this letter was brief, but I do not have many topics to discuss. I hope to hear back from you, my sister.
- Your brother, Baldwin
