"Check out that guy over there. He totally looks your type." Your friend whispers to you, nodding her head in the man's direction.

You raise your glass, slowly sipping as you peer over the rim, stealing a small and discreet glance to the man across the bar. Seems like your friend was right on the money. He definitely interests you.

The man, looking around his forties sits alone. His demeanor exudes a hint of loneliness and subtle grief as he sips on his drink. It appears he's not looking to pay anyone any mind, but himself. As you continue checking him out, you're starting to hope to change that.

You continue to scan him. From what you can see, he's got a nice build. His shoulders are nice and broad, handsome face with messy stubble. He's got an overall rugged appearance that draws you in. You're starting to wonder what he looks like under that blue leather jacket of his.

"It's not like me to approach someone first, but maybe I should go for it?" You say, looking to your friends for approval.

"Hell, yeah. Remember what we said earlier? We're not letting any opportunities slip us anymore." Nina winks at you and nudges your other friend, Cass.

Cass nods, her arms crossed. "Yeah, totally go for it. Just remember to be careful, okay?"

You take a deep breath and chug the rest your drink, hoping to get a little bit of liquid courage. After the glass is empty, you slam it down, dramatically. "I'm doing this. You guys just watch and uh... please don't leave me."

Nina reaches for your arm, reassuringly. "We wouldn't leave you, don't worry."

Cass scoffs. "Yeah, hell no. We'll be here. And if anything comes up, we'll call you."

You give them a grateful smile. "Alright guys. If he's an asshole I'm counting on you both to save me." You turn, but then quickly whip back around to face them. "I look okay, right?"

They both nod. Cass gives you a thumbs up before ushering you to be quick. "Hurry and go get your man."

You take a deep breath and get up, making your way across the bar to the man. Alright, you've got this. Don't be nervous. Don't be nervous. You chant to yourself in your head. It's not working that well though. The closer you get, the more your heart races. He's even more handsome up close.

You take a seat on the barstool next to him. As you sit down, he turns his head towards you, looking a bit surprised someone's sitting directly beside him. After all, it's not a particularly crowded bar. There's plenty of other seating you could've chosen.

Your heart races faster as your eyes meet his, but you're pretty good at keeping your composure. "Hey. Need some company?" You quickly glance down to his hand, making sure there's no ring on his finger. There isn't. Score. Gotta be careful with men his age.

He raises an eyebrow, still looking somewhat surprised. It seems he's not used to this sudden attention from a stranger. He looks you up and down, then smiles. "Hi there. I can't say I wouldn't mind some company." He holds your eyes.

"Well, here it is." You smile confidently, suddenly feeling a little awkward, but you don't let it show. Maybe I should've planned a cheesy pick up line or something. I don't know what to say. Shit.

He chuckles and tilts his head a bit. "Well, I appreciate it, but are you sure you want to spend time with an old man like me?"

You smile. "Oh, come on. You don't look that old to me. Don't talk like that."

"I'm 38, sweetheart. Sure, maybe I'm not all wrinkly yet, but I'm still pretty old. Especially next to someone like you. How old are you anyway?"

You wave over the bartender for a drink. "I'm 22."
