the bar was loud.
which was a given considering it was a bar, but nothing could override the pain and hurt twenty-five year-old bang chan was feeling. the man who he had thought was his everything turned out to be just like the rest, and thankfully he hadn't cheated like the others but it had still ended nonetheless. soeun had gotten promoted at work and chan had been elated for the older, but after realizing that the male was going to be moving abroad he grew hesitant.
chan knew english, korean, and japanese well enough but they were moving to malaysia. a place he didn't know anything about or it's language nonetheless, however he wanted to support his longtime partner with every step and swallowed his fear. he was ready to uproot his life once again and move to a completely foreign place despite being a bit, a lot, afraid of the unknown. most would call this the strength of love.
unfortunately, soeun thought it would be best to split ways. after all those years of being together and talking about making a life with each other one day — down the drain just like that. chan's love for him was discarded like a used condom that was on the verge of breaking, but at least their relationship hadn't ended terribly like a few others. despite being hurt he understood where the male was coming from, just a bit, and even though it hurt he watched as the man he had loved for years walk away.
understanding was one thing.
accepting was another.
chan was in denial, then sad, then angry, soon depressed, afterwards came regret, and the stage he was currently at was the one before fully getting over his break-up: numbness.
he felt nothing as he did thing's he's wanted to do for a while but felt too scared to do. chan dyed his hair golden brown and permed it despite everyone loving his poodle-like curls, he got his bellybutton pierced and a butterfly now showed whenever he stretched, and even though everyone told him it would hurt like hell: the male got a tattoo as well.
a rose was now permanently inked into his forearm and chan had found himself staring at the art more than once in the weeks and even months that followed. he knew he was changing and most of it was for the better because it was things he wanted but sitting at the bar throwing back his tenth, possibly eleventh shot of tequila definitely wasn't.
the bartender didn't a give a shit whether he drowned himself from the inside out as long as she was getting payed and chan found himself caring less and less about alcohol poisoning as the night went on and he had thrown back way too many shots to even remember. the stuffy air of the bar didn't make his intoxicated state any better and right as he was about to take another shot someone sidled up beside him and asked, "haven't you had enough for one night?"
it was clear that the tall, he noticed, male was heavily intoxicated as well but he seemed just a little, by .1 percent, more coherent than chan who had the hiccups and nonstop giggles. the brunette pouted, "why can't i drink more? i need to get wasted so i can forget about stupid soeun...i hate him! that stupid, ugly jerk that left me — but i love him so so much. he has to know that right-"
"you've definitely had enough to drink," the blonde says as he sways a bit where he stands and to a sober person they must look absolutely hilarious speaking so clearly but being completely drunk as well. chan narrowed his already droopy eyes, "you don't tell me what to do you...giant weasel!" the stranger's glossy, red eyes widen and he gasps offendidly. "you're one to talk about anyone you drunk wolf!"
they must look like utter fools insulting each other with animals but they're both drunk as skunks, pun not intended, and the next thing chan knows — "wanna get married?"
—
chan groans as his brain throbs in his skull and he's glad that the curtains were closed because the sun from outside would've only worsened his extreme hangover. he's never gotten blackout drunk before but he must've went completely overboard considering he couldn't remember shit from what happened last night after downing his twelth tequila shot.
the male rubs the sleep and crust out of his eyes before going to his bathroom to retrieve painkillers for the massive headache he had. he flipped the light on and eyed his reflection warily as he took in his nest of hair, sleepy eyes, flushed cheeks, and bruised neck.
wait...
chan's eyes widen when he sees two purplish bruises, obviously hickeys, on his neck near the side and adam's apple. he doesn't remember anything from last night and he's now worried about the possibility that he may have been taken advantage of in his vulnerable state but he felt none of the telltale pain in his rear and when he checked for any looseness, tearing, or bodily fluids be it his own or someone else's he found nothing.
he sighed in relief and took the painkillers, hoping that they would kick in fast so the headache would stop kicking his ass. the brunette yawned as he returned to his bedroom and as he was plopping back onto the bed he saw a paper on his bedside table. chan picked it up and was surprised to find that it was thick and not light like paper as he was expecting the material to be. it felt real and almost too fancy to touch but he still held it in his hands anyways as he looked over the paper.
a scream left his lips and his eyes widened as the material, which he realized was a certificate, was specifically a marriage certificate. his name along with hwang hyunjin happened to be printed onto it and the certificate shook wildly in his shaking hands as chan could only wonder who the hell hwang hyunjin was and how he could fix this.
chan had looked down at the floor for a moment of reprisal but instead gawked at the diamond studded ring on his left ring finger, the only finger always saved for marriage. the diamond wasn't annoyingly huge but it was big enough to shine even if he titled it a bit in the dim light of his room. whoever he married by accident had to be rich and stupid to buy a stranger a diamond wedding ring but chan had to admit that the expensive rock was pretty on his finger-
what was he doing?!
he had accidentally married a stranger while he was flat out drunk and he doesn't know what in the flying fuck to do about the situation at all. chan manages to stutter out, "how drunk was i?!" before unroyally passing out on the bed.
