Nora's POV
We were currently playing some muggle games and I was constantly looking out the window to see whether we have arrived or not. My father told me the ride would be from 7 to 8 hours. I usually hate train rides, but today was a different case. Still, the uncomfortable seats were killing me.
They seemed pretty uncomfortable too, except Ainsley. She seemed pretty normal. The trolley lady came a while back and I was excited to taste the chocolates.
The chocolate frog was a bit gummy and the multi-flavored beans were not my favorite. Ainsley wanted some but we refused to give her since she was acting like she was drunk, thanks to the soda.
After a good few hours finally, I could see the castle from a far-off distance. Butterflies erupted in my stomach. This is fucking real! I told the others that we should change and they nodded.
I went to the bathroom and completed the uniform and wore the robes and stepped out of the loo. Iris came out of the nearby stall at the same time.
I was curious about what house we would be in and Iris wasn't the best person to ask since she didn't know about it. But still, that's how our relationship works. I don't know anything about anime and she didn't know this stuff, but we listen to each other and share opinions.
When we came back to the compartment the others were in their robes too. Before I could say anything the train whistle blew indicating for us to get down as the train stopped.
When we walked out, a silhouette of a particular half-giant was visible. I grinned wide, even if I haven't seen Hagrid before he was one of my favorites. I walked over to him and looked up "Hello, You must be the new students."
"Yes, Hagrid," said Ainsley. "Harry, Ron, and Hermione told me about their trip to the muggle world. I knew your parents, they were all good friends of mine," said Hagrid walking us toward the port where the boats that leave for Hogwarts were.
"So, third years are taken through carriages. But since it's your first time Dumbledore asked me to take y'all this way" said Hagrid while helping us all onto the boat.
We were looking at the castle with awe. It was truly beautiful. Beautiful than in the movies but it looked alike. Okay, now that's dumb.
When we finally reached the other side, we hopped out of the boat. "Dinner is about to start go on. Here use this map, I have some business 'round here," said Hagrid. "But Hagrid, what if we get lost?" asked Iris. Here she goes, being dumb again. "How the heck will you get lost while using a map?" asked Carla.
"Hey! We can't be so sure about getting there without getting lost in this big ass castle" whisper-yelled Iris. I just shook my head and spoke "Don't mind her Hagrid. Thank you, we'll get there." Hagrid nodded and told us that even if we need any help we could use our wand to use a direction spell by tapping our destination on the map three times and saying the incantation.
We didn't have trouble reaching the Great Hall. Professor McGonagall was standing outside the huge oak doors leading to the Great Hall. "Welcome to Hogwarts, Miss. Addams, Davis, Carlton, and Anderson. You will be sorted in a few minutes. I presume you know the school rules?" asked McGonagall. Ains and I nodded, but the other two shook theirs. "We'll explain them, Professor," I said.
She nodded and we entered the Great Hall. It was simply Magnificent. I was completely awestruck. I couldn't take my eyes off the floating candle and beautiful ceiling.
When we were in front of the staff table, McGonagall asked us to stand there the sorting hat was placed on a stool. "Carla Anderson," called out McGonagall. Carla came forth and sighed and sat down on the stool after McGonagall took the hat in her hand.
The hat was placed on Carla's head and the hat "Hmm... courageous but not as courageous to be a Gryffindor, ....loyal and smart, oh yeah... Smart! RAVENCLAW!"
The Ravenclaw table cheered and Carla stood from the stool. She seemed a bit satisfied. Then Ainsley was called, "Oh... creative mind... not cunning but has some courage. RAVENCLAW!"
Ainsley seemed as if she expected this and joined Carla. And the cheers eventually stopped as McGonagall called out Iris. She walked up and sat down and the hat was placed.
"Ah! Davis she said..., I know where to put you... RAVENCLAW!" said the sorting hat. What? All of them? Gosh, I'm sure I won't be a Ravenclaw and now Imma be left alone here. Shit-
My thoughts were interrupted by McGonagall calling me forth. I sighed and sat down, I got to see everyone with their curious eyes. I could see the trio sitting at the Gryffindor table.
My eyes locked with a particular pair of grey eyes with a hint of blue. He immediately looked away. I could have sworn I saw a tint of pink on his cheeks. This happened so quickly that once I looked away, the hat was placed. I could hear the hat speaking right beside my ear.
"ah.. Trustworthy, Loyal.. Friendly.. you might be in.. HUFFLEPUFF!" Well, that was unexpected. I was happy anyway. I went to sit at the Hufflepuff table and was welcomed by handshakes and claps just like the other three.
I looked around to see them sitting there next to each other. I grinned at them and they returned it. My eyes once again locked with the same pair of eyes I saw earlier. This time it was... disappointed?
I shrugged the thought and looked over my plate and started eating. This was indeed the best meal. I liked everything on my plate.
I was enjoying every moment but one thought was still bugging me.
"I didn't want to lose my child again..."
