On the beach

Eddie's POV

I woke up with Kacey leaning against my side as she slept. I slowly moved and got up to check my phone. nothing. I went into the kitchen and started on breakfast as Christopher and Jack woke up. I gave them plates of food and sat with them, waiting on Kacey. I got up and walked back into the living room with Kacey still sleeping on the couch. I went back to the kitchen and wrote her a little letter.

Kacey,

Christopher and I had to go. Jack already ate breakfast. thanks for letting Christopher and I stay the night. Be careful. I cleaned up your room for you. when you are more awake and after your coffee, be sure to change your bandages on your hands and legs. the bleeding should have stopped. Before you get upset next time call me.

Eddie

I left the note of the counter as Jack and Chris said their goodbyes. Chris and I left, going home to see his mom at the front door. Chris got excited and got out of the truck and ran to hug her. I smiled and got out watching my son. As I helped Shannon inside, Chris told her everything except about Kacey. I put her stuff in my room.

"How about we go to the beach today?" I asked.

"Yeah, let's go!" Chris yelled excitedly.

Shannon helped Chris with his stuff, and I walked into my bathroom, shutting the door. I slid down the wall and sighed, putting my head in my hands, not knowing what I should do. I decided that I would put Kacey in the back of my mind again and see how this is gonna work out. I got up off the floor and went into my room, getting stuff for the beach. I walked into the living room to see Chris ready to go. Shannon walked into my room and changed out of jeans and a t shirt and into a pink sundress. Once everyone was ready. w
We got in the truck and left for the beach as we arrived. Chris went straight to playing in the sand, and Shannon put a towel down that we relaxed on talking and watching Chris.

Kacey's POV

I woke up late and got up from the couch and walked into the kitchen as I poured myself some nice warm coffee. I saw a note on the counter and read it. I picked up my phone and texted Eddie.

Thanks for feeding Jack breakfast. I really appreciate it. Sorry, I slept so late. Thanks again

I put away my phone as he didn't text back. I shrugged it off and went to my bathroom to clean up. I got into the shower and washed all the dried blood off my wounds, and looked at them to make sure nothing got infected. As I got out of the shower and rebandaged my legs and hands. I picked up the plastic cup to see all the glass that Eddie pulled out of my legs and hands last night. I sighed and walked back into the living room to see Jack put up everything and him sitting on the couch.

"What do you want to do today, bug?" I asked.

"Can we go to the beach?" He asked calmly.

I looked down at myself. "Sure, bug. Go get ready." I told him.

He put his book down and ran to his room and got ready. I walked into my room and slowly got ready. Jack was waiting patiently in the living room when I finished getting ready. I smiled at him and nodded. I walked out to the car after locking the house. Jack got buckled up and ready to go. I got in and drove us to the beach. Bug and I got out and found a spot on the beach. Buck showed up and sat with us.

"What are you doing here?" I asked a little bit scared.

"Oh, I saw your car and decided to follow you." He said.

"Buck, that's creepy. You don't do that!!" I yelled, hitting him.

Jack saw his uncle and convinced him to play. I pulled out a romance book I had been reading. I sat on the blanket we grabbed and started reading. I happily laid there on the ground with my legs covered as I read my book.

"Is that 'Home Sweet' by katymorse?" a lady asked me.

I looked up at her and smiled. "Yes, it is." I replied in shock.

"Oh my goodness! I love her. I thought I was the only one who read her books." the lady said. "Oh, I'm Shannon, by the way. I just saw your book and had to come ask about it." She added.

I smiled and nodded. "So nice to meet you. Katy is a really nice person. She gave me this copy of Home Sweet that isn't finished yet, so give her some feedback on it." I said.

"That's amazing." Shannon said with a smile.

I smiled back and went on with my reading as she moved away. I rolled my eyes and sighed as I closed the book and pulled out a different book that I decided to read. Buck and Jack came back over and laid down to relax. Buck sprayed Jack with sunscreen as he laid with him. As we relaxed, it got later, the sun started to set. We packed up our things and went home. I got Jack ready for bed.

Buck decided to stay. "How are you doing?" He asked.

"I'm feeling better, but I know I get angry when something is wrong, like when you got bullied by mom and dad. I always black out, but this time, I didn't." I said, confused.

"Yeah, I remember when you used to black out, but what do you mean you didn't?" He asked.

"Buck, I didn't black out this time. I knew every punch I threw to the mirror and the glass in my room. I knew when I kicked the glass and broke everything." I told him.

I was holding back tears, and I had no idea what to do. Buck hugged me, trying to keep me from hurting myself. I cried into my brother chest as he held me tight. I fell asleep crying as Buck held me.
