Farrell's POV
~
I brushed my neatly trimmed hair for the second time this morning, checking my waves in the rear mirror before dropping the brush in the console. Then I picked my folder and alighted my car, taking the turn and walking into the lobby of the building. This would be a good deal for me, since I was working with someone I knew even though we were always at each other's necks.
I still couldn't help asking myself why I applied for the job and even more than that, I was curious about why the CEO, Jose picked me out of all the million people that applied for the role of his personal assistant because the honest truth was that we couldn't stand each other. He could be quite arrogant and cocky if one gave him the chance and I was also a proud and controlling son of a bitch.
Anyway, I had over fifteen years experience in Personal Assistant role and I'd worked for both Daystar Inc. and Thomas corporation, two billion dollar companies. So I was quite the catch. I had only left Thomas's because I had to be honest with myself as I would be turning 49 in 3 months. I needed a more peaceful life compared to the hustling and bustling I was used to and I needed to consider dating again.
Not that I had not tried it several times but it didn't work out and I did not have any interest in forcing things. But now I'd found someone who could make me consider giving it a try while damning all the consequences to hell.
So when my best friend Manuel told me about Jose, his younger brother being in need of a personal assistant, I'd decided to give it a shot. Knowing I would see Jose everyday, be close to him, go to functions with him and also get double of my previous income was more than worth it.
Orion and Co. was a famous company anyway, and I looked forward to working with them. More than that though, I looked forward to meeting Jose Martinez and working closely with him.
Just like me, Jose was the last child of his family but he was a spoilt little thing who always had his way ever since I'd known him. Thinking of little though, Jose wasn't little anymore. He was now the successor of his father's company and also my new employer. And he had grown into a handsome and promising young billionaire. I had known Jose since he was five and that was understandable since his older brother was my best friend.
And I'd also been like a guide to him back when we were in the Navy so we go way back, though we never got along ever since he was a kid.
I made my way to the front desk while smiling at the memories of our last fight where he'd told me he never wanted to see me again. That was a month ago and his reason for making such a declaration had been that, 'I tried to crash his birthday party '.
All because I'd requested his brother's presence to discuss an important issue for a few minutes while he wanted to spend those minutes 'cutting the birthday cake'. We never got along for too long but we could be civil to each other when it came down to it.
I checked the time on my wristwatch as I approached the desk. It read 7:45. Meaning I met my time limit of driving down here here within twenty minutes.
"Hello, I'm Farrel Denzel -"
"Good morning Mr Denzel. I'm very much aware of who you are and my, you're quite early. Take the elevator up to floor 78, the last floor. Our CEO is waiting." The redhead lady narrated with her smile ever present, pointing at the elevator.
"Thank you." I murmured, giving her a small smile before walking to it.
As I was transported to the seventy eighth floor, I heaved a deep breath and shut my eyes for a second. Today was my first day at Orion and Co and I needed to give my best even though my employer was a grumpy guy whom I was twenty years older than and whom I'd known before he even grew out his baby teeth.
