It was mid-spring time and the tulips Ryann planted during winter were just beginning to bloom. Ryann was situated outside on her porch, where a white porch swing hung. She had just gotten comfortable with her book and was pushing her long, once youthful legs back and forth on the swing. When a few minutes later as she got into the beginning chapter of her book, a red car started pulling up on the driveway. The tires hitting the gravel as it cruised up towards the house.
Ryann instantly recognized the people in the car as she quickly started raising up from the swing.
"Grandma!" The dark haired little girl scrambled to get out of her car seat as her mother let out a sigh and locked the doors.
The girl's struggle became even worst as she couldn't get the door open because of the child lock.
"Bristol," the mother said, as the child continued to ignore her.
"Bristol, you will not be getting out of this car until you show some respect, this instant." She said
Bristol let out a heavy sigh and turned to look at her mother. Her mother looked tired and drained and she instantly felt bad.
"I'm sorry." She muttered meekly
Her mother nodded in approval.
"You will be staying with Grandma for the weekend until I get back from Arizona." She said
Bristol looked at her mom's bright green eyes and sighed.
"I don't understand why dad can't watch me," She said, "I mean I love grandma but dad didn't even offer to watch me." She picked at her red shirt and looked back at her mother.
"He's . . . busy" She said running her hands through her silky black hair Bristol invyed.
Bristol was only 10 and she knew how much her mom was protective of her.
Sara didn't tell her daughter Bristol the real reason as to why her own husband didn't want her nor Bristol anymore. She wanted Bristol to grow up in a loving family as the one she had growing up.
But Bristol already knew, she saw the affair before her very own eyes. And as for her dad, she was glad he said no to watching her, she didn't wanna be around a cheating man.
With a nod, her mother unlocked the doors and they stepped out of the red car. . .
Together.
