Chapter 3 ~ "Last Resort"

I woke up breathlessly crying with my heart racing this morning. I couldn't understand why I felt this way, my dreams turns into a nightmares but it was different tonight.

I dreamed Sonic was walking into the forest and I followed him as I yelled out his name. Never once did he turn to look back at me. The red moon was rising into the sky as the stars shine the path for him and me. I could feel someone watching me. But who? I looked around me as I could see a pair of red eyes in the darkness of the forest. But I kept on moving anyways. Finally Sonic came to a stop in front of a golden ring, then turn his head to me with a wicked smile. "Follow me, Ames." He said as he jumped right into the ring. I panicked then ran to him until a commanding voice yelled at me as I was about to go inside, "DON'T YOU DARE JUMP IN!" Soon after I woke up.

I feel childish crying over a nightmare, my mother would say they aren't real just an over active imagination. But something inside me doesn't feel right. I sighed thinking today isn't going to be a good day.

Not to waste another minute, I shook off the bad dream and got ready for the mission. Putting on my black shirt with gray pants and matching gray shoes with a red scarf. I put my red headband on since it match my scarf so nicely and went off to the mission.

"Hey Amy, ready for it to start?" Rouge asked outside the base as she come down to a land from flying. Rouge was the first person to greet me, which made me feel good. Then Rouge asked, "What do you think of this top?" We laughed as we entered the Freedom Fighters base.

"Yes, I'm a little nerves, I just want to get it over with it," I said. Rouge smiled playing with her top as we walked inside the base. Everyone inside was ready for this mission. Rotor the walrus was going round to each team giving them something that looks like a small compact player. Across the way I found Sonic with Bunnie and Antoine laughing about something funny until Sally came near them, then it came to a hush thing. By the time I looked away from them, Tails and Rotor came right up to the side.

"Amy, we have made something that would make your first mission go a lot faster." Tails said as he took my hand and placed an oversize watch on my wrist, "It's not like any kind of watch but it could bring up the map of the airship, unlock passwords and contact us anytime you want."

"That sounds amazing," I said, trying to sound impressed with Tails' watch but really I wasn't that impressed because it doesn't go with what I'm wearing. Then I said, "Thank you Tails."

Tails looking at his watch with pride, "Yes but you might not use the watch so much, but here's a flash drive, now this is the most important flash drive you will ever need. We need to understand what Eggman would want with a creature or other information explaining what's his doing here." As Tails gave me the flash drive. I stared at it for a moment then nodded my head.

"I understand."

"Also you would need this," Rotor gave me the same compact player he's been giving everyone else in the room, "This is an small bomb, now it wouldn't explode until after 10 minutes are up, Got it," taking a breath, then continuing. "After downloading the information, you put this under the machine, then you will have to get out of there fast as you can." I could see across the room Sonic with a cocky smile on his face, because he knew his the fastest in the room.

"I understand," I said again as I held the player in one hand and the flash drive in the other. Looking at them made me feel uneasily but it's my responsibility to sure get the info and help take down the airship. I just hope I don't mess up.

After Rotor and Tails left, a soothing voice spoke behind me. "Are you ok, Amy?" I looked up from the items in my hands to see Sonic's smiling face.
