Texas Fire

Eddie's POV

As I got out of the engine that we had been in for 20 hours. Buck opened the door and scoffed.

"What is that?" He asked as he questioned everything.

"Humidity Buck, Welcome to Texas!" Kacey said, walking behind me.

I chuckled and smiled as she walked ahead of me with her medical bag. We all got over to Captain Strand. He got us all set up and places we needed to go. Kacey and Hen were staying at the camp, helping others. Buck was going to help with the ditch. I was helping to find a kid with guys from the 126.

Kacey's POV

I heard that the 126 was here as Hen and I helped with the other paramedics. I walked around helping others as Buck and TK got back. I looked towards them and around, trying to see if Eddie was back. Hen had gone with the Captain to go help others. Buck and I heard that Hen was missing.

"We have to go find Hen. She would do it for us." I said, looking at Buck as Eddie walked over.

I got up and walked over to Eddie, hugging him and glad he was okay. Buck and TK snuck away as Eddie and I hugged. We followed the 126 and saw Buck and TK.

"You thought you two would go on a death trap mission that could get you fired without us." Judd said.

I smiled as I heard Judd's voice, I walked up behind him and gave my brother a look.

"Really Buck?" I asked him.

Judd picked me up by the waist and spun me around. "Hey, it's my girl. How's Jackie boy? it's been forever." He said, hugging me.

"He's good. I should probably come down here on vacation to make him see you guys. How's Gracey, Dad, and Carlos?" I asked

"He's great, how's momma?" Carlos said, looking at Kacey as he walked closer.

Tk turned as he heard Carlos' voice. He watched as his boyfriend got closer to me. Eddie watched Carlos to be sure he wasn't going to touch her.

"Carlos?" Kacey asked with a pale face.

"Guys, we gotta go, remember Cap and Hen?!?" Mateo and Buck both said something at the same time.

Eddie grabbed me, pulling me to the engine as Tk grabbed Carlos' hand and got him in the engine with them. Judd got in the back, and Buck drove off. I looked at Carlos and put my hand out. Carlos grabbed my hand.

"Is Bee okay?" He asked.

"Yeah, Bug is fine. He made friends." I said with a smile and a sniff.

He smiled and nodded, letting go of my hand as we got close to Hen and Cap's helicopter.

I took a breath and got out to start looking. We were all shouting for them. I looked towards TK and Carlos. I looked down at my ring, which was Carlos'. They had found Hen and Strand's Yellow jackets. We all started pulling away the rock as an explosion went off. I was thrown back into Carlos as he caught me. I got up quickly and ran in, getting to Hen.

"Hen!" I had Buck help me lift her up and get her fresh oxygen as she woke up.

Buck and I got her to the engine as TK and Judd followed us with Strand. Eddie and Carlos and the rest walked behind us. I glance back to see Eddie and Carlos talking.

Eddie's POV

"So Carlos, right?" I asked.

"Yeah, what's your name?" He asked.

"Eddie Diaz." I answered.

"You were partners with Kacey in the army, huh? Kacey wrote about you to me and Jack before she seemed to disappear." He said.

"Yeah." I nodded.

Kacey walked over to us as we got back to base camp. I watched her take off the ring and place it in Carlos' hand.

"Give it to TK when you're ready." She told him smiling.

"I will, thanks." He smiled.

Kacey hugged me from the side as Carlos walked away. I looked at her and rubbed her back. She looked at me as we walked over to Judd.

"Nice working with you, Judd." I said, shaking his hand.

"Nice working with you too, Eddie. I'm glad I got to see you, Kacey. Will I see you again?" Judd asked.

"Yeah, hopefully, in a better situation too. I'll bring Jack with me." Kacey said.

Kacey and Judd hugged, and then her and I went to the engine and got in. I sat down as she laid her head on my shoulder. I wrapped my arms around her as she relaxed. Hen got in the engine and sat in the back with us with a sigh. Buck got in, and Hen laid her head on him in a sisterly way. As two of our guys got in and drove us home. Kacey had fallen asleep with me holding her as I watched Hen and Buck fall asleep, laying on each other.

20 hours passed as we pulled into the firehouse. Kacey woke me up as I sat up and groaned, looking around. Buck and Hen had already gotten out of the engine and went the locker rooms to change. I got out with Kacey, and we went our separate ways to get ready to go home. I walked out of the locker room, waiting on her. She walked out and grabbed my hand as we walked my truck. She got in, and I went around and got in, driving us to my place. Jack was staying at my house with Carla and Chris. We walked up to the door and walked in, getting tackled by both of our boys. I picked up Chris and kissed his cheek as Kacey did the same with Jack.

"Who did you see when you were there, momma?" Jack asked.

"I saw Uncle Judd and Daddy." Kacey said.

"You saw daddy??" Jack asked.

"Yeah, he's okay." She said.

Jack smiled, hugging Kacey tight as if he was gonna lose her. Kacey held Jack in her arms and walked over to the couch, and sat down. Carla went home, and I put Chris to bed as Jack fell asleep in his mom's arms. Kacey went to put Jack to bed and came back into the living room. I was sitting on the couch waiting for her. Kacey came in and sat down next to me.

"You okay, babe?" I asked.

"Yeah, I just thought I'd never see Judd or Carlos ever again." She said.

"I saw you gave back Carlos' ring." I said.

"Yeah, it was his dad's racing ring. He gave it to me when I had Jack, and I kept it with me. The reason I told him to give it to TK when he was ready is because it's a promise ring." She told me.

"What was your promise?" I asked curiously.

"Our promise was to take care of Jack, and when we saw each other, I promised to give it back." She answered.

I nodded, understanding why she gave it back now. I got up and picked her up bridal style and carried her to bed. I laid down with her as she cuddled into me. We fell asleep cuddling.
