Chapter 2

I exit the Nurse's office and spot Sarah waiting for me, I walk up to her and she instantly starts up "C'mon, we have to head to the training hall, it's where all the students are going right now." I sigh, seeing as I wont get any type of break soon. "just... lead the way." I tell Sarah, clearly being tired already, even though the day had only just begun. As we walk in the halls to our destination, other students made it easy to tell that they were talking about the little scuffle I was in earlier, some even pointed at me! "hey, Sarah, I think I'm popular!" Sarah sighs, and gives off a little chuckle. "well, maybe if you hadn't put on a show in front of the actual school, people wouldn't be talking about you!" I snicker a bit at her statement. The rest of the way to the Training hall was pretty silent, besides the muttering. when we reached the Training hall, it felt like the term "hall" was an understatement... the place was HUGE seemingly able to fit a small village inside this very area itself.  The roof could probably be tall enough for a tower, with giant round Pillars supporting the roof. It seemed that there were training dummies of all kinds around the room too. Off to the right seemed to lead to a large grass field, which had halls surrounding it that lead to other parts of the building. at the end of the hall it split off to more corridors, and there seemed to be a line of teachers murmuring with each other, seemingly waiting.

Sarah had lightly hit my shoulder to get my attention, afterwards signaling me to follow her. she leads me off to the side where she just sat down and started waiting. I look at her as i walked over "why'd you make me come with you?" she looked at me and raised an eyebrow "are you really questioning me? you know damn well I have to keep an eye on you so you don't start trouble." I pretended to look absolutely shocked "Me? get into trouble? I would never!" she scoffs and I chuckle, I start to sit down. but as soon as I do, the teachers called for everyone's attention and for them to gather around them. I sigh in defeat and stand back up again, walking alongside Sarah as we gather to the Teachers. "Listen up everyone! you're going to need to select a group of people, it doesn't matter if you know them or not, you'll be working with them on this activity!" me and Sarah look at each other and nod mutually. "for today you'll be working with each other in some basic sparring! getting used to one on one, two on two, and so on! it may seem early to get started in fights, but it's because we're going to compare to how you do at each sections of the year!" everyone started chatting with each other. "go and find your group!" everyone scatters and chattering ensues. me and Sarah look at each and look at the rest of the crowd "so uh... how do we do this?" I asked her. as I did Percy came up to us "there you two are!" I look at Percy and start smiling "well look at ya! all fixed and proper! Those scratches held no candle to healing magic, eh?" Percy laughs and nods his head. "Yup! feeling like I had a proper eight hours of sleep!" we had just made a group of 3, just needed 3 others to go against.

I start scanning the crowd for a group of 3. While looking around I notice a group of 3 girls who seemingly had the same idea as us. "I might've just found our opposing team!" I say to Sarah and Percy, they both turn to where I'm looking "yeah/Sure" Sarah and Percy responded at the same time. we walked over and I started the conversation "hey! we were wondering if you 3 were willing to go against us 3, for a fair three on three?" the 3 girls looked at each other and they seemed to nod "sure!" they said at the same time 'oh fuck they're in sync' I turn to Percy and realized something. "Percy... what is your magic?" he seems to blank for a second then realizes the same thing "OH! uh. I have water magic, what about you two?" before I respond Sarah responds first "I use wind and he uses Lightning." I decide to follow up "I'm a close up fighter, think of me as the rusher. Sarah here is more for medium range with slight support." Percy smiles and responds "well I'm more support as well and longer range I guess." I start to ponder for ideas and tactics we can use for battle, and then it hit me. "Ok, hear me out..."

Me Sarah and Percy were lined up against the other 3 girls, Percy has his Staff and Sarah her Grimoire. I had a realization of how i was lacking a specific weapon i preferred. i looked around the hall and notice a rack off to the side. I turn to Percy and Sarah and hold a finger up "just give me a quick second!" I jog over to the rack and pull out a wooden sword, giving it some swings. 'It's no metal, but it'll do...'  i go back to the group and get back in position "and now i'm back, and much more prepared!" Percy looks confused, but Sarah gives a knowing  grin. I look at the other group and check what they were using. the other 3 girls were using a crystal ball, a wand and a staff. Me and the Girl in the center on her team counted down with our fingers, and we both hit 0 at the same time and went OFF. I started to charge forward using my electricity as a slight booster to my speed, Sarah was using her wind to help boost my speed even further. Percy fired off Powerful blasts of water that got evaporated when the girl with the staff had fired off a large Fireball. 'oh, that's perfect.' I signal Percy to start firing more over to the fire girl, looking at Sarah and circling my finger in the air. She looks at me and nods, getting to her part of the job. After looking back to the other girls i suddenly slip on the floor. I look down and noticed that it had become ice, making it difficult for me to simply stand. I look over to the wand girl, I quickly notice that she had a vast amount of rocks surrounding her. after noticing said rocks, I noticed they were coming much closer. but before they got too close a strong force of wind helped knock them off track saving me from being buried alive. I look over to the girl with the crystal ball and notice her focusing on it. 'Well, 2/3 isn't ice, so surely it'll be the 3rd one, right?' I pulled out a wand I had on a Side holster, charging it with electrical magic and shooting it at her. right before the arc of electricity could hit her, an earth wall arose out of the ground, dispersing my shot. "ah, damnit." I charge at the earth girl and she responds in kind with raising the ground underneath where I run, causing me to lose momentum and hit a wall. As I'm starting to gather my bearings, I see an icicle coming straight for me. Before I had time to move out of the way, Percy saves me with a wall of water which gets frozen by the icicle. I sigh in relief. "Thanks Percy!" I start running back to the earth girl, watching the ground as she makes them rise. Being able to tell which part of the ground her focus is on. After rushing at her I suddenly stop and use my wand to shoot another electrical current at the ice girl, making her drop the orb. she drops the ball and  it shatters, making her lose her magical focus. I look over to Percy and see he's still clashing with the fire girl. I look at Sarah and she gives me a thumbs up. I look up to see a cloud has formed above our heads. "Sarah, keep it up!" I fire a charge of electricity from my wand up to the cloud, causing it to rumble. I holster the wand to my left and grab the grimoire from my right side. before doing anything I look over to the 3 girls. "HEY! I suggest giving up now! *I start to point up* unless you want to know the feel of  being a lightning rod!" the girls look at each other, clearly frightened. they then look back at me, Sarah, and Percy, then back at each other. i watch as the earth girl nods, waving her wand in a circle. the ground beneath them rumbles and a earth dome is formed around them. My face goes blank as i turn to Sarah and Percy, noticing they had the same reaction. I look at the dome and back at Sarah and Percy "Shit..." the three of us say at the same time. I keep frantically looking at the thunder cloud we made, My group, and back to the hidden enemy group. 'this was NOT planned! GODS! why did we not think of the fucking EARTH girl?! well, we didn't know it when it was planned... but for FUCK SAKE! if it was a normal battle they wouldn't have had a warning and lost!.. probably!' as I'm lost in my on going tangent of thoughts, a crowd starts forming because of the obviously loud thunder cloud. A rock then raises out of the ground and slams up into my chin "AGH! FUCK! How the hell-?!" I notice the dome has a peep hole for the earth girl to look through, allowing her to get attacks off on us. "Oh, that's fucking CHEAP!" I feel the ground beneath me rumble and i dodge out of the way. i turn to Sarah and Percy "Watch the ground! the earth chick can see us!" As i finish talking, Sarah and Percy both look at each other and split to the left and right. 'Now we just need to get rid of the dome! and make sure to DONT stop moving! but how do we destroy the damn dome?! it's pure ROCK!' A loud crackle reverberates through the hall. I look up at the rumbling cloud as it crackles like it's about to burst. I let out a chuckle and stop in my tracks unstill and unmoving. I raise my hand up towards the cloud, and bracing myself. "When one lightning rod set is gone, just get another! isn't that right fellas?!" I notice Sarah and Percy look at me worried, and for a good reason. Sarah starts running towards me, clearly wanting to stop me "Will, Dont-!" My hand starts crackling with lightning, my body tingles as i feel the immense danger i put myself in "Oh... well, shi-" a loud BOOM is heard throughout the academy. The hall shakes and everything inside rattles. the surrounding crowd gets blown away from the power of the lightning strike. I feel my skin start tearing as it struggles to contain the self-made lightning. My muscles start to spasm as i stand there, struggling. I hear several voices and muttering around me, seemingly from different students and a familiar voice or two within the crowd. "Damnit will! Magic made storms are several times stronger than a normal one!" a female voice calls out, my thoughts too jumbled to make out who it was. 'This, A-Actually... SUCKS! It feels like Zeus himself struck me with his own thunder!' I hear a louder and more voice in the crowd call out, seemingly coming closer to me. "Move! Move! out of the way!" A gruff voice commands the students crowded around the fight area. I see a bearded man come out of the crowd and start approaching me. he gets out a wand and points it towards me, collecting the magical current and shotting it off to the side, dismissing the electricity attacking my body. I stand, bloodied and burnt from a side effect of my now obviously painful and clearly flawed plan "Ah- Well... that certainly feels... Better..." My words stray off as i feel my body lose all balance, falling over. I watch as a panicked Sarah rushes over to me, my sight darkening until it all goes black.
