In the realm of friendship, I found a love,
A tale of hearts intertwined, yet not as it seems,
For I, a lesbian, yearned for my best friend's touch,
But her heart, alas, was not meant for me.

Her laughter, a symphony that stole my breath,
Her smile, a sunbeam brightening my days,
Yet the truth emerged, a bitter pill to swallow,
Her love for me could never find its way.

In shadows, I'd gaze upon her graceful form,
Longing to hold her hand, to feel her near,
But destiny's path led us on separate roads,
A truth I accepted, though it brought a tear.

For love does not choose the boundaries we set,
It blossoms freely, defying our control,
And though my heart aches for a love unrequited,
I cherish our friendship, a treasure to hold.

So I'll keep our memories, etched in my soul,
A reminder of a love that couldn't be,
And as I walk this path, my heart still hopeful,
I'll find a love that's meant to set me free.
