The following morning I woke up to an alarm going off. Quickly changed into the armor I'd chosen yesterday and sprinted to the main control room.
"Everybody up! Zarkon's attacking." Allura's voice informed is over the intercom. Shit. I run even faster hoping every one would be ready. "The Castle's is about to be destroyed!" Wait, if the castle was being attacked, wouldn't it have been shaking like yesterday? "Go, go, go! We need Voltron now! Hurry! We can't survive much longer!" I finally got to the control room to see Allura yelling on the intercom.... We were not, and are not, indeed being attacked. What the fuck was going on. Neither Coran or Allura had noticed me over the flashing lights or alarm. So I decided to return the favor and hide behind a seat.
Coran leveled up the dramatics, he went off on Allura's head being chopped off and her severed head was speaking to him. That man is very disturbed or just very strange. Maybe both.
"I guess this isn't an actual attack." Shiro stated blandly.
"And it's a good thing it wasn't because it took you... Coran?" Allura asked Coran for how long it took.
"Seventy-five degrees." Coran stated, wait do they measure time with degree or something. That would explain some things. "Oh, sorry. No, this is a meat thermometer." He apologized.
"However long it was, it was too long." Allura complained. "You must always be ready to do battle with Zarkon. Look at you! Only Shiro is in uniform." Allura reprimands. I took this as my moment to shine and came out from behind the chair to stand behind Allura.
"Princess, I am deeply offended by your words." I faked, holding my hands to my heart. Allura whipped around in surprise. She didn't look very happy.
"When did you get here?" She questioned me. I moved my arms across my chest.
"A bit, right before Coran started talking to your 'severed head'." I quoted moving to stand next to the Paladins. Where was Lance?
"Anyway. Keith, Pidge, Hunk, where are your bayards? And where is Lance?" Allura continued. At that moment the door opened, and in all his glory was Lance. Who looked very bright eyed and cheerful. Wait, is his face...glowing?
"Good morning, everybody. What's going on?" He asked, walking to the rest of us. He was wearing Blue Lion slippers and a blue robe, where'd did he even get those from? Thinking about it where did Hunk get his pajamas.
"Coran and I have been up for hours getting the Castle back in order. We had to run a test on the alarms, and we decided to test you as well." Allura told us. Ah, it all made more sense now. Sorta. She went on to look at us disappointed and very angry. "Guess which one failed?" I looked down at my feet, that look was the same look my mom would give me when I did something wrong. It made me miss her more.
"Hey!" Hunk yawns. "You got to sleep for 10,000 years, man. Monday night, I was on Earrh. Now, I've flown through space, fought some evil alien named Zarkon, eaten goo in some weird castle. That's a lot to process in, uh... I don't know. What day is today?" Hunk ranted, honestly he was right.
"It's the third quintant of the Spicolian movement. Hump day!" Coran answered.
"It's a lot to process." Hunk grumpily replied.
"You must understand the stakes of our mission. Over the last 10,000 years, the castle picked up distress beacons from the following locations." Allura brought up the holographic coordinates. I walked around looking at the map as the holograms changed from blue to a red, orange and yellow. All these places, all those planets and species could be under Zarkon's reign. "So, we have to assume that Zarkon has conquered almost the entire known universe." Allura than showed us Earth, informing us that an attack would be inevitable. I spaced off feeling the impact of Voltron's importance.
