Aryan's Pov

I peeked at her as she made my mum and sister laugh with her silly antics. I wondered how she manages to keep it all together and act as if everything is fine when deep down she is breaking into pieces.

Her ex-husband got married to her sister again, giving away her rights twice while she was here, making my mum and sister smile. Ever since Imlie entered our lives, I could see my mum and sister get happier each day and always laugh because Imlie has one or two silly tricks up her sleeves.

I caught her the other day mimicking me in front of my mum and sister. It was funny and I tried to hide my smile but Arpita, my sister, caught me.

'Aru,' she sweetly called me. 'This is the first time in four years I have seen you smile genuinely. You are in love, aru.' She beamed at me happily.

I ignored my sister and pushed the thoughts aside. It wasn't the right time for me to think about love, but my mum was right. The biggest gift Imlie gave us was her smile.

I hated that bastard called Aditya. He ruined the lives of two women, and one is out there trying to seek revenge. I looked at Imlie again, and I silently vowed to protect her at all costs and, if possible, make her mine.

'ABP!' I heard her yell across the room where she was sitting, and I turned to look at her, and she beckoned me to come join them.

'Don't you ever laugh? You just sit there glowering day and night.' She said while I saw my mum and sister trying to stifle a giggle.

Great! I thought to myself, ever since Imlie came home, these two are no longer on my side.

'Good night mum, good night, sister. I have a pending job to finish and imlie, don't forget to submit your report tomorrow morning.'

She rolled her eyes at me. I wanted to say something, but I decided against it. It was just going to make the conversation I wanted to avoid longer but I must say, imlie is very diligent about her work and very hardworking.

I closed the door to my room behind me and made sure I locked it. This girl has driven me crazy. She makes me now talk to inanimate objects. I picked up her anklet and stared at it and finally whispered good night to it.

I'm happy I deleted Aditya's text message to Imlie on the day of his third or fourth wedding. I couldn't believe the guts of that man, asking her to meet him up and then abandoning Malini on the altar with his unborn baby.

He was a very indecisive man, and I hated that. One minute, he wants to be with Imlie, the next he wants with Malini.

Imlie would be better off without the Tripathi's and I have vowed to keep her away from Aditya, she can relate with the rest of the family if she wants to, I honestly don't care but I must keep her away from that man.

Imlie's Pov

Thank you, lady sita. I'm happy you've given me another family I can call my own. Please always protect them and keep them happy.

I called my mum and told her everything about Rathore's. How sweet they were, especially his mum and sister.

Arpita was the elder sister I never got, so full of life and bubbly. I adored her so much, and although she had her past struggles, she was still beautiful inside out. Arpita has a beautiful family of her own with two lovely kids, a boy and a girl whom the entire family adores.

I always prayed that Arpita's luck would rub on me a little bit so that this simran could have her raj. Imlie! I heard him yell, and I quickly hurried up with my prayers. Aryan! I hate him as much as I adored him. He was my mentor, my best friend, and means everything to me after my mother and Satyakam.

We got to the office, and I was discussing with Aryan about my latest report. 'Why don't we put this on the first page?' I asked him, and he shook his head.

'I'm all about money, Imlie, that story won't attract views unless...'

'Mrs Tripathi, you can't come in here.' The security said, looking out of breath. It amazes me how agile she could be considering her condition. Aryan dismissed the security with a wave of his hand and turned to Malini with a stern look on his face.

'The next time you come here without an appointment, I'm going to throw you out, Mrs Tripathi. So how can I help you today? I thought we were done with our business deal.' Aryan said.

'Yes, but I wanted to invite the two of you over for lunch and...'

'We won't be hungry today, Mrs Tripathi. You can use the door now.' I turned and giggled, Aryan was the perfect match for Malini and her mum.

'You didn't let me finish Mr Aryan Singh Rathore.' Malini stated sternly. I wanted us to choose the pictures that are going to appear in the Bhaskar Times newspaper.'

'That's not part of the deal. You wanted us to cover your wedding, and we did just that. If you want something else, you are going to have to pay for it.'

'Name your price, Mr Rathore?' Malini asked, glancing at me.

'10 million cores,' he replied, glaring at her.

'Fine by me, and I'd be expecting you by 2 pm.' She smirked, handing him the cheque she had just signed.

'Why did you accept her offer? What's the need for that Aryan?' I asked him.

'Honestly, sometimes I do forget if I employed you or if you were the one that employed me, get back to work and be ready by 2 pm.' He snapped, turning his chair away from me.

I took that as my cue to leave, and i went back to my desk. Time flew by faster than I wished. I dreaded going back to that house because of how many awful memories I had there, but work was work, and I'm going to be professional about it.
