High on Zipping into Love: Chapter #16

Present Day:

Stiles pulls up to Derek's house and smiles when Zeke hurries to the car. "MR. STILES!!!"

"Hey kiddo," he says as he opens the door and helps make sure Zeke gets buckled in. He turns and gets a chaste kiss from Derek before he gets back in. Derek slips into the passenger's seat and glances back at the kids.

Olivia smiles and holds out her hand. "I'm Olivia. You're Zeke. Daddy told me about how you were the best cub."

Zeke shakes her hand and his eyes widen. "He did?"

"Uh huh."

"Wow. Well I bet you're an amazing cub too!" He looks shyly at her and giggles when she starts making funny faces.

Both kids are oblivious to the way their fathers are grinning ear to ear.

Stiles drives their small family of four-yes, he's already calling them family in his head-to the family diner downtown. They get a booth, and, to the surprise of both adults, Zeke sits next to Stiles and Olivia sits next to Derek.

Both of the kids order chicken nuggets, french fries and chocolate milk but Olivia gets ranch dressing and Zeke gets ketchup. Stiles and Derek both decide on double bacon cheeseburgers, curly fries and milkshakes, chocolate peanut butter for Stiles and mint chocolate chip for Derek.

Halfway through their meal, Stiles notices Zeke watching him. He swallows his bite and smiles. "What's up kiddo?"

Zeke glances at his dad then back at Stiles. "I had a question."

"Okay. You can ask me anything."

Derek has frozen, his heart hammering in his chest. He's pretty sure he knows what Zeke is going to ask and he keeps his gaze on Stiles, nervous for his reaction. "Zeke? Maybe we should wait until later to ask."

Zeke looks at his daddy and his lip wobbles. "But, Daddy you said I could..."

"Hey, Cub?" Stiles says quietly, smiling when Zeke turns to him. "No matter what your question is, I will not be mad or angry or upset. It sounds like it's important to you. So, go ahead and ask."

"Okay. Um..." he pauses and then takes a deep breath. "Did you know my daddy loves you, Mr. Stiles?"

Stiles smiles. "Yes."

Zeke relaxes and takes a sip of his milk. "Do you love my daddy?"

Derek catches the way Stiles turns to look at him and knows instantly what his answer will be. "Yes. I love your daddy very much."

Olivia smiles at Zeke. "You know what that means right?"

"What does it mean?" he asks curiously.

"It means you and I are gonna be siblings! I've always wanted a brother."

Stiles clears his throat as both his and Derek's cheeks flush. "Livvy? I think it's a bit too soon to-"

Zeke beams at her. "I've always wanted a sibling too. This is gonna be awesome. Plus, Mr. Stiles makes my daddy smile."

Olivia giggles and offers Zeke one of her chicken nuggets. "Mr. Derek makes my daddy smile too. I can't wait to play together. Do you watch Star Wars?"

"Of course I do. Who hasn't watched it?"

The two kids start talking animatedly about the movies and the two adults get lost in each other's eyes, unable to stop smiling. It's better than they could have hoped.

By the time they get back to Derek's house the kids are fast asleep in the back seat and Derek invites Stiles to stay. It's not even a question of saying no. They carry their kids inside, get them changed into pajamas and tuck them into bed in Zeke's room, before settling on the couch together.
