Two Months Later: Halloween

Costumes for Halloween were ready about a week early since Stiles had spent extra time earlier on getting the basics down. He had a Rey costume ready for Olivia, a Darth Maul costume ready for Max, a Padmé Amidala costume ready for Aria and a Mara Jade costume ready for Sadie. They were all ready to go and with that he then went to talk to Zeke to see what he wanted to be for Halloween.

"Zeke?"

Zeke looks up from his spot on the living room floor while he colors with Olivia. "Yes, Tatuś?"

Stiles smiles at that, having been honored when Zeke asked if he could call Stiles daddy in Polish since that's what Stiles's mom spoke. "I was wondering if you have decided what you want to be for Halloween?"

"Oh. I don't know. I might not want to go actually," he says quietly and looks down at his sketchpad.

Olivia frowns. "Why are you upset? Is it cause of what that meanie Jackie said?"

Zeke nods.

Stiles's brow furrows. "Olivia, we don't call people names." He turns to Zeke. "Who is Jackie?"

He only gets a shrug from Zeke, but Olivia is quick to explain. "Jackie is this mean girl at school. Me and Zeke were talking at recess to my friends. I was introducing him to them, and we started talking about Halloween. Everyone was saying who they want to be and then Zeke said he wants to be Rey. Jackie told him he was a..." she trails off and makes a fist. "She called him a naughty word she said her daddy says is for boys who love other boys."

Stiles tenses and feels his anger rise but takes a deep breath. "And what did you say?"

Olivia juts her chin defiantly and beams. "I told her that my daddy is going to marry an amazing man who will be my Tata and that if she is gonna say mean things then she shouldn't talk at all. I told her that her daddy is mean because he just doesn't understand that it's okay for boys to love other boys or for girls to love other girls. Like how Arrow and Kit love each other, and you and Tata love each other. Love is love."

Zeke has moved closer to Olivia and hides his face against her shoulder, embarrassed.

Stiles coaxes Zeke into his arms and kisses the top of his head. "I'm sorry that Jackie was so mean to you, and I will talk to the school about it."

"Daddy?" Olivia says quietly.

Stiles rubs Zeke's back soothingly as he starts to calm down and looks at Olivia. "Yes, Mały Aniołek ?"

She chews her lip and then sits up. "I told Zeke that he can be Rey and I will be Obi-Wan like the young one. Plus, you're right, he's pretty, just like you and Tata. I can be a guy character for Halloween and Zeke can be a girl character."

Stiles can't help the warmth that floods through him at her words. "That's a good idea, Livvy." He looks at Zeke. "How does that sound?"

Zeke fiddles with Stiles's shirt. "I don't know. You already made the costume for Livvy."

"I did but I can make one to fit you and then make her an Obi-Wan costume. There's plenty of time."

"There is?" he asks in a whisper, his eyes wide and hopeful.

Stiles grins. "There definitely is. Let me get my keys and we'll go get the fabric. Okay?"

Zeke tears up and wraps his arms around Stiles's neck. "I love you, Tatuś."

"I love you too, Mały Kubuś."

The three of them head out to the craft store and spend a couple hours picking the perfect fabric to make Zeke's Rey costume and Olivia's Obi-Wan costume. Stiles thinks it's adorable that Olivia remembers him saying that Ewan McGregor is pretty as they get back out to the car with their purchases.
