Afterward, King Vegeta went to go check on his son in his nursing capsule. He was proud of Prince Vegeta's potential and declared that his son will rule the universe instead of the monster Frieza.

The king became angry, however, when he noticed an unknown child in a nearby capsule; this nursery was supposed to be exclusive to the Saiyan elites.

"Who is this child!? What is he doing in the same room with my son!?" King Vegeta said in anger.

Then Shito told the king that Broly is the son of Paragus. His power readings fluctuated but his battle power was abnormally high, maybe even higher than that of Prince Vegeta.

King Vegeta never believe this, so he took a device for reading battle power from the medic and placed it against the tank.

Broly started to cry, and the device exploded. Nion was nearby taking notes and said that even discounting outlier readings, Broly's battle power was quite high, and she speculated that Broly might be the legendary Super Saiyan.

After hearing Nion's words, King Vegeta's resolve harden and decided his course of action.

Soon after, Paragus ran and is half-pushed into the throne room where he took a knee, begging an audience with the king.

"Please forgive me for barging in, but I understand you send Broly away. I'm told this pod will be destined for an outlying world." Paragus said.

"That's correct," King Vegeta said.

"That's a fate meant for the lower-class warrior, not my son," Paragus said.

"On the contrary, what better way is there to prove that your son is a truly powerful warrior than by conquering an unclaimed planet on his own? After all, that's what Saiyans have always done. We subjugate valuable worlds and sell them to the highest bidder." King Vegeta said.

"But his destination is the planetoid Vampa. It's an inhospitable world devoid of intelligent life. I don't see how we could make much of a profit on it." Paragus said in disbelief.

"The truth of the matter is that your son Broly's latent abilities are abnormally elevated. I'd go so far as to call him a freak." King Vegeta continued, "Someday that power will likely end up driving him completely insane. And when that time comes, he'll be in danger not just to Planet Vegeta but to the entire universe. Be grateful that I'm exiling him to a faraway world and not simply ending his life."

"No! This isn't right! You! You're jealous because Broly's latent abilities surpass that of the prince, don't they!? You're trying to exile my son! What about that time when you let those humans stay on our planet!? You should have exiled them because they are not to be trusted! They are still not welcome to Planet Vegeta!"

King Vegeta scowled, giving him a stern look. "Say another word and I will have your tongue. And you will leave Kouta and Eric out of this. They are still welcome to stay on our planet. They don't seem to be harmful to my people. They only needed our help to build their new ship to send them home."

He growled in rage. "Why do you care about those Earthlings!? They are far enough to stay for much longer! I couldn't figure out what makes these humans so special. What did you let those humans have that made every Saiyans like them so easily? It didn't make any sense to me!"

"Silence! You will not speak to them that way! For your last answers, you two will be killed for disobeying my orders. Besides, you're still late. He's gone. I had the pod launch before you got here.

Then Paragus flew off in a panic, crashing through the stained-glass window of the throne room to head for the spaceport. Paragus set his sights on a spaceship to steal and made a beeline for it, pushing aside a Saiyan named Beets, who followed after him in protest. Paragus wasted no time on him and took off for Planet Vampa with Beets in tow.

As he piloted the ship through the atmosphere, he filled Beets in on the details of his plight and his mission: the king was jealous of Broly's power and removed him from his nursing capsule to send him to a desolate world. Paragus planned to retrieve Broly from Planet Vampa and then serve out their exile on a more habitable planet, though Beets was free to return home. Paragus only saw one path forward for himself: he will train Broly's incredible power and get his revenge against the king and even those two humans who could brainwash them by making them like them.

Paragus and Beets approached Planet Vampa, which was actually a planetoid, almost as small as an asteroid. Paragus ignored cautions from Beets and headed straight for where Broly should have landed two days previously. This result in a crash landing, but they survive mostly unharmed.

Paragus donned some kind of mask and they begin to search for Broly using one of the old scout scopes. Soon, they heard a noise approaching, a group of Vampa Beetles was approaching. One of them attacked Paragus, but he managed to get free. He tried attacking the creature, but his attacks just bounce off its shell. They managed to take shelter in a cave, where Beets tearfully informed Paragus that he was not even a fighter.

They stay in the cave until sunrise when they resume their search for Broly. Beets noticed that Planet Vampa has a moon and that it was just short of being full; Beets has never transformed into a Great Ape before, so Paragus advised him to avoid looking at the moon.

During their search, they entered one of the planet's craters which appeared to be filled with a soft, grassy surface. Soon, the crater was surrounded by giant ticks. They penetrated the "grass" with long, barbed appendages extending from their mouths, and start sucking up something underneath the surface.

Suddenly, there was an earthquake, Paragus and Beets took to the air as the grassy field took shape and an open mouth emerged from the surface, extending into a gigantic snake-like creature with the face of an attack dog. It began attacking the Vampa Beetles and eating them, causing Paragus to realize how the food chain works on this planet: the Vampa Beetles suck the blood of the Vampa Beasts, and the Vampa Beasts eat the Vampa Beetles. They distance themselves from the scene, and then Beets spotted Broly's pod in the distance. The pod seems to have been ruined in a crash landing, but Broly was not there. Paragus used a scope to search, and they eventually find Broly inside a cave that seems to serve as a nest for the Vampa Beetles; it is full of what looked like their eggs, and the corpses of several adult creatures.

Broly soon emerged from one of the adult claws, a piece of a sucker tongue in his hand; Paragus told Broly how happy he was to see him, but Broly seem wary. Beets used the scout scope to gauge Broly's battle power, which was 920—higher than his own—but Paragus believed that 920 would not be high enough to combat the Vampa Beetles.

He noticed that Broly's armor was a little loose on his body, and realized that Broly must have transformed into a Great Ape the night before when the moon was full.

They returned to their ship to escape the planet, but it turned out that the ship's main floater was damaged in their crash landing. They are stranded on Planet Vampa. They are too far away to call for help, and they only have enough food and water for ten days. Beets doubted anyone will find them so quickly; Paragus agreed and shot Beets with a Ray Gun to preserve their rations.

After taking Beets down, he plots for revenge one day he will get rid of King Vegeta and the two Earthlings who ruined his life.
