♪Oh darling all of the city lights
never shine as bright as your eyes~♪-Car's Outside
I sat in my room. It was my 14th birthday. My mom was always fed up in work and never had time for me.
I dug my spoon into the ice cream bowl. It was nearly liquefied. I laid back in my bed.
I rolled around before my mom broke in. "Sweetie, I got your birthday gift here." She sat on my bed.
She laid it down on the other side of the pillow. I refused to look at her. She rubbed my back and left. "Love you, Brielle."
I dismissed the words and put it in my drawer. I brushed my hands through slightly sweaty my hair. I stood up.
I looked in the mirror. Tomorrow was my first day at my new school. I would be known as a rich kid. I hated it.
Business trip, huh? That's why we were here. My mom didn't care about me, she cared about the money. I sat back down on my bed.
Just thinking of it tore my heart, but I had to be strong. I had to be a tough rock. I laid back down and closed my eyes.
I sung a song as I drifted off to sleep.
-----------
I woke up to the aggravating sound of my alarm. I got up and wiped my tired, groggy eyes. I slammed it to turn it off.
I threw on a laced top with some jeans. I hoped I looked normal, I even crossed my fingers. I took a slow shaky breath.
I put my hair up in space buns.
I could wear it down tomorrow.
I wrapped them up in Lacey bows. I crossed my fingers for a second time before putting my shoes on.I stuffed a piece of toast in my mouth and ran to school. There was a girl with blue hair who was just in front of me when I arrived. "I'm nearly late!" She groaned.
I stood behind her awkwardly before saying, "Dang, me too." She jumped unintentionally falling into me. It was the first day and she was probably here years before the way she reacted.
"Oh, hi! Sorry you scared me!" "No, I'm sorry for scaring you."
The girl with blue hair then went up some stairs into a classroom. I followed because I didn't know where anything was.
"New year new seats." "How about you go sit next to the new girl."
A girl with blonde hair sat down with a girl with ginger hair.
I sat down in front of them. I shrugged it off and just continued with my thoughts.
Well, until I noticed the girl behind me was absolutely fuming. I think she meant new girl by me and I sat somewhere else then she wanted I have enough clue.
"Or... Sit next to her." She pointed at a different girl.
Am I just ruining everything? I tried to push the thought away but it came back every time.
I put my hands on my face. I wanted to cry. Nobody sat next to me and ignored me like I was a plague. I stayed quiet the whole time.
I continued listening to what the teacher was saying and writing down notes.
"Kim, you-" "Ivan!" "But Kim was-" "Ivan go to the principals office!" "But-" "No buts."
The bell rang at the same time.
When class ended everyone surrounded the halls getting into their lockers. I opened mine for a second.
I looked in my bag to check the time on my phone and saw the box... The box with the earrings my mom gave me.
Curse that sneaky little- I bit my tongue. Why does she need to go snooping around. I opened them up. They were little circles with a webbing pattern. It was very faded though.
I took a breath again. Nobody even knows that I'm a 'rich kid' or even famous. It's an American thing. I come from there and they only know about France. I can survive this I thought to myself.
I ran as the bell rang for the next class to start as I clashed into the bluenette.
"I'm so sorry!" I shook my head. "Not it's my fault I'm a total klutz." I held her bag to give to her. She glanced at my earrings. "Wow, those must be expensive." She told me.
"N-no! Not at all, my mom bought them for a few dollars." Her face moved around a bit.
"Are you sure." I nodded. She stood up and held out a hand for me. I let her help me up.
We walked beside each other. I looked at her, she was in her own happy world.
"Hey, I never got your name." "Marinette Dupain-Cheng." "Brielle Ferhn." "Ferhn? No wonder why you have those earring-" I covered her mouth. She glanced at me.
She dropped her voice to a whisper.
"Aren't you like famous or something?" "No, my mom is." "Well that technically means you are too." She giggled a bit.
"Friends?" She held out her hand giving me a cheesy smile. "Friends."
As I walked away from her I heard a booming noise. It shook the entire school. I fell down. "Everybody evacuate!"
I ran out. Along with a lot of other people. I ran to my house because it was close.
----
When I got home I flopped on my bed. I took the box out of my bag. I opened the box to look at them. This time, longer than 2 seconds.
Suddenly, a light appeared. I took my hands off my ears.
It was a little spider-like thing. "Wow! It's been so long! I've been trapped in there." She flew around.
"Who are you?" "I am Dixxi kwami of secrecy!" "What kind of power is that?" I said, now holding a broom. "I can help, when you say 'Dixxi, let's strike' You can transform and 'Dixxi, Strike out to de-" "Transform? Into what?" "Your power is invisibility you can use it for up to 10 minutes. Then afterwards you have 5 minutes until you detransform." "What do you mean by Dixxi let's strike? That's-"
I felt my body be tugged around. I was swinging around. I felt my arms do this weird movement. I then saw flashing lights.
Soon, it was over. I looked around for Dixxi. "Dixxi?" I couldn't find her.
