Context: Will and Nico live together. Nico's in college, and Will is a barista. Will is 24, Nico's 22. (heavily inspired by "Housemates (Solangelo AU) ✓" by @fanboyriot. (go check that story out it's really really good.)) Nico's POV.

I woke up to sunlight streaming in through the open windows, temporarily blinding me. I groaned. Will knew I hated it when he left the curtains drawn.

Will...

I rubbed my eyes and groggily sat up as I remembered what I had planned for tonight. It hadn't been my idea, Reyna had suggested it. I thought back to our phone call the night before.

It had been late, Will was already asleep in my room. I'd crept to the kitchen when I got the call, I didn't want to wake him.

"Hey, Nico! Do you have anything planned for tomorrow?" Her voice sounded like she knew the answer already, and I hated that she was right.

"Um..."

I could practically sense her rolling her eyes. "I have an idea. Text you the details later. Make sure you pack blankets and warm clothes...and condoms."

I dragged myself out of bed, knowing I'd have to get started on packing soon. Will was long gone, a couple hours into his shift at the coffee shop. When Reyna had first told me about her idea, I'd unsurprisingly protested. It didn't work. She was adamant that I listened. I pulled on one of Will's oversized t-shirts and walked to the kitchen, automatically pouring myself a cup of coffee. I was a zombie in the mornings unless I was caffeinated. I rubbed my eyes and headed for Will's bedroom, still half-awake. I rifled through his bright closet, searching for sweaters. It was difficult considering that 90% of his wardrobe consisted of t-shirts and cargo shorts.

I eventually found a yellow sweater that would do, and went off in search of blankets and pillows.

It wasn't long before I heard Will's pickup truck pulling into the driveway. I stashed away the bag I'd packed and slumped onto the couch, staring at the door as I sipped my second cup of coffee, a blanket wrapped around my shoulders like a shawl. I heard keys jingle before the doorknob turned and Will entered, his blonde hair a mess and a coffee spill on his shirt. I smiled when I saw him, setting down my coffee on the table and walking to the doorway. I didn't say anything until I reached him and leaned forward, planting a kiss on his soft lips. He kissed back for a few moments before I pulled away and smiled at him.

"Happy birthday, Will."

He grinned and kissed the top of my head before closing the door behind him and collapsing on the couch. "Thanks, Neeks."

I sat next to him, snuggling closer and wrapping my blanket around him, melting into his warmth. "Anything you want to do today?" I said into his chest.

I felt him shrug. "I dunno."

I snuggled closer to him. "We'll figure it out."

He looked down at me. "Don't you have a class in, like, five minutes?" I buried my head deeper into his chest and groaned, making him chuckle. "It's okay, Neeks, we can hang out later. Come on, get up."

I begrudgingly rose from the couch and shed my blanket-shawl, scowling as I put on shoes. I gave Will one more kiss before dragging myself out to my car and driving off to campus.

Classes were insufferable. The professor droned on and on, having us analyze crime scene after crime scene. There's only so much you can do with blood splatters before it gets repetitive. The whole time I was thinking of my surprise for Will tonight. Would he even like it? Reyna had seemed so sure that it was the perfect idea, but I was having doubts. My mind kept looping the same negative thoughts in a vicious cycle until Piper snapped me out of it by elbowing my sharply in the ribs.

"Ah! What the fu-" She put a finger on my lips and smiled, making me glare at her.

"Sorry. You weren't replying. Anyways, does this splatter look like it was caused by a stabbing, or a gun?" Her eyes went wide for a second. "Or both?!" she grinned. Piper was a little weird sometimes.

I groaned for what felt like the hundredth time that day and slumped over the table, head in my hands.

By the time I got home, the sun was already setting. The lights off upstairs told me that Will was probably watching TV on the couch. Sure enough, when I opened the door, he was lounging on the cushions, watching Breaking Bad. He smiled when he saw me.

"Nico! Hey!"

I just stared at him and went into his bedroom, emerging with a tie moments later. He looked at me and raised an eyebrow. "What the hell's that for?"

"Put it on," I said, handing it to him.

He shrugged, deciding not to argue, and began tying the tie around his neck. I shook my head, taking it from his hands. "Not like that." I tied it around his eyes, completely blinding him.

"Right," he said. "Cuz this is so obvious. Everyone ties their ties like this." If his eyes weren't covered, I could have sworn he rolled them.

"Just stay there," I said. I headed to my bedroom closet and retrieved the bag I'd packed earlier. "Ok," I said. "Let's go." I grabbed him by the hand and led him out the door, careful not to let him fall. To his surprise, I sat him in his pickup truck instead of my Mustang. I stashed the bag in the back and clambered into the drivers seat, struggling a little bit to pull myself up.

"Where are we going?" Will asked as I started the engine.

"If I was going to tell you, I wouldn't have given you a blindfold."

He harrumphed, and I grabbed his hand as I pulled out of the driveway.

The drive was mostly silent, with Will occasionally asking if we were almost there. After about ten minutes, we reached and I pulled off his blindfold. He looked up and immediately grinned. "No way."

I smiled. "Reyna suggested it." His smile got even wider, if that was possible, and he gave me a quick kiss.

"Thank you." I nodded. Will had been begging me for weeks to go to a drive-in movie theater. When I'd told Reyna, she'd insisted that tonight was the perfect night. The sky had turned a dark blue, stars occasionally speckling the blanket of color. The small clearing was mostly empty except for one other car, parked halfway across the field. The massive screen at the clearing's edge lit up, starting the movie. "What are we watching?" Will asked.

"A horror movie I think." I climbed out of the car and went to get blankets from my bag in the back. When I returned, Will looked nervous.

"A horror movie?"

I smirked and took his hand. "Don't worry, you'll be fine." I threw a blanket over him, which he wrapped around himself in a makeshift cocoon. I tucked my legs underneath me and snuggled closer to him as he pulled me into the warmth of his blanket. He planted a small kiss on top of my head and settled in to watch the movie. "Happy birthday, Will."

The movie was pretty good, it was one of those classic horror movies that were cheesy and not at all scary. Will evidently didn't share my opinion, seeing as he looked horrified and was clutching my hand so tightly I thought it might crack.

The other car drove away halfway through, so we were the only ones left in the field. The sky darkened as the minutes pressed on, until it was fully nighttime. The movie finished after two hours, but we stayed in the car, cuddled up next to each other in the mess of blankets. "Thank you, Neeks," he said into my hair. I looked up and smiled. His blonde hair stuck up and cast shadows over his tan skin, making him look ghostlike in the dim light. His usually bright blue eyes were now pools of navy, swirls of cobalt dancing around in his irises. I leaned up and kissed him, slowly and softly.
