Chapter 12 - Heartbreak and Hope

Tae's POV:
I chased after her when she was going to meet Jimin. I saw him hand her flowers and her hugging him and my heart just shattered like glass. I turned and walked away without looking back and went straight to Kook. I bet he knows what I saw because of the look on my face. Then within a few more minutes I see her running towards Kook and hug him and cry. I listen to all that she was telling him, and I was just so shocked to even react anything. I see her look at me with expectant eyes and when she looks away from me, she is actually disappointed and that is when I realize my face was void of any emotions at all. But I was so relieved, and my dying hope was revived. I mean yes of course I feel bad for Jimin but she's, my girl. Right? I can't help but be selfish in her case.

Author's POV:
She pulls a little away from Jungkook so she could continue what she was saying. "Did you know Jimin was going to confess his feelings to me? Was that what why you were telling me to be careful and all that?" He just responds with a nod. She releases a deep sigh and turns to her left and spots Tae. Her heart starts beating really fast and looks away from him.

"What did you tell him doggo?" Kook asked. "I told him that...... that I like..." she clears her throat before continuing "That I like someone else and that I was sorry. I told him he's a great guy and he'd find someone a lot better than me." and looked at Tae but his face looked so void of any emotion, and she couldn't read him. "Oh. Ok." "I feel like shit though for doing that to him. Whatever. I'm going to the tent to just lie down, my head hurts." and she started to walk away from there.

Tae reaches out and holds her hand and said, "I'll go with you." she just looks up at him and quietly starts walking again. He looks back at kook and he winks at Tae at which he just smiles.

After they reach the tent y/n goes straight to the sleeping bag and settles in. She doesn't spare a second glance at Tae. That is until he speaks up.
She can't see how nervous he is. How much he is relieved. How he is so happy that he is literally shaking.
"Y/n? Do you need any medicine for your headache?" She just replies with a shake of her head 'no'.

"So, do you really like someone? If yes, do I know him?" Tae asks with so much curiosity. She looks at him with questioning eyes and he sees that she's trying to fight off the smile that is trying to creep up her lips. "Yes, and yes" she says. "Do you like someone and do I know her" she asks with a raised eyebrow when she saw how happy he looked. He pulls on a mischievous smile and says, "yes and yes". They both start laughing at that.
Both of their hopes are rekindled and their hearts pacing with happiness.

Later that evening they have a campfire down by the beach where all of them have fun dancing to the music and enjoying the sea breeze. All of y/n and her friends are letting loose after having crossed all the hurdles for the year and their bond just thickening, getting stronger.

The next morning, they leave from the island and reach back home by afternoon. Everything is all good and happy until they return to school after their weekend. Y/n hears a few girls talking about how Tae is apparently dating a new girl. After hearing that she can't help but to think that is true because of what Tae told her in the tent about liking a girl. She feels bad that yet again she assumed that the girl was her. Then she braises herself and decides she's not gonna let him hurt her or the rumors and gossips bother her again anymore. At lunch she tries to distance herself a little from Tae but not entirely ignore him causing him to ask her questions. They find their final examination dates put up and immediately realize that this is the last week they will all go to school together until next year. They all sit down and make schedules for them to start studying.

Soon, the week runs by, and the exams are over. Y/n and Tae are still in the weird friends-talking zone. The gossip about Tae never seemed to cease even now and y/n just has decided to ignore all of them. They all decide to meet up in a classroom on the day of the results.

Y/n runs a little late that day and she is the last one to arrive. As soon as she enters, Tae hides behind the door to surprise her. She hugs everyone and talks to them and finally asks where's Tae. to which one girl replies "Maybe he's off with his new girl y/n. I think it's time you leave the boys alone and stop sticking to them all the time. Especially Tae. I see that it bothers you Tae's with someone else" "I'm not bothered who he is with. And who the hell are you to tell me who I should be friends with and what I should do? You better mind your freaking business and keep your nose out of mine." She says with so much anger but the hurt and pain in her voice is not unnoticed by her friends and Tae. Kook says "Let's get out of here guys" looking at Jimin, Yuri and Nari holding Y/n's hand. They all walk out of that room and Y/n says she wants some time alone and that she's going to the library.

Meanwhile inside the room, Tae comes out of hiding. "You better not spread anymore rumors about me you filthy jobless people. And if I ever hear you talk to Y/n that way it will not be good to you. To any of you. This applies to every single one of you. Better mind it!" He yells at the girl and others and storms out. He goes to their favorite corridor where they all hang out when they had free time and luckily finds the three of them but no Y/n. "Guys, where's y/n? Is she okay? I want to talk to her." "She's alright, she just needs time." Jimin says. "But I think she'll talk to you Tae" Kook says. Tae nods his head and says, "She went to the library, didn't she?" At this Kook has a proud smile on his face and Nari just smiles. "Oh god! Just get together both of you already" Yuri says giggling at which Tae just goes red and everyone laughs. "Go talk to her man" Kook says.

Tae sprints to the library and looks for her everywhere and finally spots her at the table by the window.
