Nicknames: C, Matthews, Annoying (Daryl sometimes jokingly calls her that)

History:

Where was she when the Outbreak started:

Horrifyingly, Caroline was in the same hospital that Rick Grimes broke into in the first season. She'd been visiting her mother in the hospital when the outbreak had started and quickly spread and she became trapped in the hospital, her mother having been bit and killed by walkers minutes before (something Caroline would carry with her through her journey, blaming herself for not being able to protect her mom.) Hiding in a supply closet and barricading the door with whatever she could find she did not hear Rick in the hallway and she stayed there for hours before making the decision to escape the hospital and retrieve her little brother and sister from school. Making her way through the chaotic side streets, she managed to move through the streets relatively unnoticed, taking out a few walkers with what little skill she had, not being able to fight the walkers off without almost being bitten herself as she wasn't used to this and had to learn how to fight and protect herself later on. She managed to make it to the school only to find the classroom door barricaded from the inside. She managed to break through a window, finally finding her younger siblings
