The Way I Love You
Chapter Two - Cheer Jealousy
I picked up Shay's spare white cheerleading pom-poms from the floor and stood next to her.
We were in the gymnasium, since I needed to practice for the try-outs that were taking place after school, and we had a free period to practice.
"Okay," she said. "You ready?" She merely grabbed her other pom-poms from the floor and looked at me, I nodded and watched as she showed me what to do.
She looked like she had been cheerleading all her life, I mean, it didn't look like cheerleading to me, because our cheerleading squad wasn't even a squad, it was just two peppy blonde girls that looked down on everyone.
"So, you go; arms up, arms down, ripple, down, up, twist, jump, down, arms up, ripple, squat, up and pose, got it?" She said in one breath, while doing the moves herself.
"Ugh, I think so." I said, unsure.
"Okay, ready?" She said and I nodded. "Five, six, seven, eight!" She called. I tried to remember all the moves she did, and luckily, I wasn't that bad.
She watched me for a second and smiled. "Awesome! Now, that's the try-out routine, we all have to know that routine well, since we try-out each semester for new students to join."
"Got it." I said, and watched as she showed me one more time.
"Okay, one more time," she said and stood in front of me. "And a, five, six seven, eight!"
I tried my very best to get all of the moves right, and by the look on her face, I was hoping I did.
"Great!" She cheered and grabbed a bottle of water from her bag and threw it to me, whilst she took one too. "You're gonna be great on the squad!" She smiled, while chugging on her water.
"I sure hope so, but, the other girls on the squad aren't mean, are they?" I asked, sipping some water myself.
"I mean," she started and walked back over to me. "Danielle can get pretty mean if you cross her, but she has a sweet side, so you don't have to worry." She said with a chuckle.
"Oh, good," I said. "Because the girls at my school were all peppy and mean, that's why I didn't try-out, well, no one really could." I said.
"Why?" She questioned, cocking her head.
"Well, there were just two girls on the squad, and they wouldn't let anyone get on the squad 'cause that's just how they were." I stated and sat down on one of the benches.
"Did you always want to try-out?" She asked, sitting next to me.
"I mean, I've always wanted to, but thought nothing of it."
"Don't worry, you'll be fine here." She said with a smile and finished her water as the school bell rang. "Well, I'll see you at the try-outs after school, they'll be here so, I'll see you then!" She said with a smile and stood up.
"Okay, bye, Shay!" I smiled as she walked out of the gym.
"Bye, Alyx!" She called over her shoulder.
I smiled suddenly, finally feeling liked by people and stood up from my place on the bench and walked towards the exit of the gym.
I walked towards my locker and opened it, revealing some books that I got from some teachers yesterday and a mirror that I had placed there. I took my bag out, putting my chemistry book inside it and closed the locker door shut.
