I ran out of time and now her heat was here. My wolf was going crazy and a lust for her blood settled deep within me. She was asleep now. She passed out in the tub before I brought her to our bed.
My mind was still reeling from the shock of her not knowing what heat was. It was one of the first things taught to female wolves the moment they start going through puberty. It's something that can occur like an irregular period. It happens when two mates have met but are yet to mate and also when they haven't mated for a long time.
I was curious now about how Sword of Hera was being run. The women aren't allowed to train, they aren't taught about their heat. The worst part about it is that I know there's so much more hidden beneath the surface.
I sighed into the leaving summer air and ran a hand through my hair. I was standing on the balcony attached to the bedroom, allowing my thoughts to run as I resist the urge to sink my teeth into my mate's neck.
I was hoping I wouldn't have to go into the serum room and sedate the monster inside me but it was becoming more and more apparent that I would have to.
My wolf growled at the thought of being sedated but he didn't understand that it might be the only way to make sure our mate doesn't hate us. I don't want to take her against her will. Fuck, that would be an awful start to whatever this is. I haven't even kissed her yet.
Her plump glossed lips appear in my mind suddenly, making me lose my track of thought. What I wouldn't give to taste those juicy lips. My wolf howled in agreement bring me back into reality.
I shook my head vigorously. No, I shouldn't be thinking about this. I snapped my fingers and no longer was I standing on my balcony. I was in the serum room of the hospital wing.
My eyes zero in on the liquid I was looking and I marched over to the shelf, ignoring the growls of the infernal beast that was dead set on making my life hell.
"Stop your whining," I growled out loud, "It's either this or we hurt her and she hates us forever. Take your fucking pick."
I pulled a small bottle of the clear liquid off the shelf just as he retreated to the back of my mind. My eyes scanned over the label:
MEDICAL WOLVESBANE
This will sedate my wolf for a few hours, then I will need another dose. I took a few new medical needles from one of the cabinets in the room and snapped again, this time to the inside of my bathroom.
I shoved all the needles but one into the medicine cabinet. My wolf was crazy again as Kira's scent wafted into the bathroom from under the door. I wasted no time in plunging the needle into the wolvesbane before stabbing my arm and inserting it into my bloodstream.
It burned as it went through my veins and a silent groan left my lips. Slowly, it subsided and then I felt my wolf fall asleep.
My gums still ached a bit from wanting her blood but all in all we'd be okay for next few hours.
