Do you also believe in enemies to lovers?
Well. Emily, a depressed teen, did as well. Although her fate was not always with her, she hoped she could meet the love of her life before depression entirely consumed her.
[chapter 1: never been better]
Waking up next to a pack of burnt cigars, Emily woke up completely wasted. She found herself in a room filled with empty champagne bottles, the smoke of cigars was suffocating the poor 19-year-old, yet she couldn't help herself other than cry and take her anti-anxiety pills. She kissed her late father's portrait in dismay and teary eyes. She went to her high school after cleaning her rented apartment and changing her clothes. On her way, she met Atlas oh good sins, how good he looks in these checked clothes. If only he could see that I'm the one who understands him. Emily thought.
Atlas had always been the only guy who understood Emily.
After her father died in a car crash, Atlas's family began to distance themselves from the Han family. Emily's mom used to work in a daycare, she had completely lost herself, and due to this, she couldn't focus on her part-time job. Emily was just nine when she learned the term abandon. No one looked after her after Atlas was gone. Emily's mom who loved Emily dearly, couldn't spend time with her as she had two part-time jobs to work on. Tired of the burden she had, loneliness, anxiety, fear of missing out, and her depressed state, she couldn't bear the pain anymore and decided to end her life when Emily had just turned eleven. She went to Emily's room and found her making small invitation cards to distribute at school for her birthday. She laughed and whispered. "if they want to, they will", no one loves me more than hatred. Even if I don't want it, I'll still get it. I think you'll miss me, I hope. I'll be waiting for you with a cake in my hand, sitting under the moonlit sky, trees will be whispering about my arrival. Oh dear sin, now you're the only hope I have. God has left me unfortunate.
Within a blink of an eye, everything was gone.
Emily heard sirens and her neighbors throng over her house. She woke up in disbelief when she saw her mother, not beside her. The disappearance of her mom left her baffled. She got off her bed and peeked outside the window. She met a familiar sight. Blood had enfolded her mother and she laid down, helplessly. She couldn't go outside the house as she was puzzled by the thought of her mom's death. Negative thoughts were cluttering her mind. She slept, however, waiting for a response from her aunts in the morning.
She woke up ghastly and proceeded towards the dining.
She knew that HER MOM WAS DEAD. She was having a bowl of cereal when the doorbell rang.
The neighborhood thought of Emily as a stoic. No one actually knew the real reason behind her, "not being sad" henceforth, they did not bother her.
Upon answering the door, child-woman Emily saw her aunt who lived in the States. She barged in with... a smile? "Emily, my gorgeous girl, I am sorry for the loss sweetheart, but don't be sad. your aunt has got your back" said her aunt Melisa with a grin on her face. "I-I just, d-don't feel right aunt" answered Emily looking tired and her eyes staring at the floor. "Upon? upon what Em? the loss wasn't your fault anyways. You cannot change your past. Even I balled my eyes out yesterday upon hearing my sister's sudden death but that cannot be the reason to stop in life, is it? I can see how depressed you are. But its better to achieve in life rather than staying depressed. Life goes on, remember?" answered Melisa with a hint of stubbornness and anger in her tone. "I, (sigh) I don't know Melisa aunt, I feel I wasn't a good daughter to her" with that Emily started crying again. Melisa without any hesitation, hugged her and made her sit on the sofa beside the pathway. She assured her with kind and gentle words and made her sleep on her bed and got her some food from the table top.
Everything after a week got right.. Emily resumed her high school and had adapted a non-toxic mentality. She had become a very social person and stopped her nicotine intake.
'EMILYYYY" someone screamed in the corridor, oh that was her best friend Evelyn.
"Evelyn stawph" teased Emily, "We have a boy getting kicked out this weekend and OH MY LORD guess who is he" said Evelyn. "def not my dad, duh" bluntly answered Emily walking towards her Math class. "see ya soon, baby gworl" yelled Emily whereas Evelyn stood smiling, mouthing, exactly, rest in grave, Mr. Han..to be continued...
